Amazing the year he is putting together even though he has only seen the endzone 5 times.

863 yards with a 7.19 ypc

If not for our offense’s (particularly the QBs) proclivity for turning the ball over the perception of our offense in general would be very good. Even before last night Jarquez has had a solid season by any measure.

He has run very effectively. He was finally treated like a bellcow so now I wonder Freeze's intentions for the offense and fab receivers going forward.

Frustrating as hell too. He was killing OU for something like 7 or 8 ypc before the 4th qtr. He ended up with 17 for 97 @ 5.7 ypc to end the game. The same amount of carries as Payton Thorne. Absolutely no reason your Sr. RB who is one of, if not the, best ball carriers in the league to have the same amount of rushes as your QB unless that QB is Cam Newton or Lamar Jackson.

Regardless, I'm happy that he finally got a breakout game in this shitty season. He is one of my favorite AU players of all time. Just has a sort of old school feel to the way he plays. He isn't flashy and doing doesn't do a crazy celebration after every 4 yard run. Just hands the ball to the ref and gets ready for the next play.

He’s leapfrogging motherfrickers out there left and right. He’s flashy as shite.

I'm talking about the pointless celly's after a routine run you see out of so many players today.

Yeah, he runs like a maniac during the play though.

I dont think PT's carries are that big of a deal. If it makes the offense go or helps the RB then do it. I do think Hunter needed the ball at the end of the game. 17 carries isnt a bad number. He needed 20 that game though.

Normally I wouldn't either and agree if it is making the offense go. But Thorne ended up with 23 yards in that game. His long was 9.

So, yeah, in that situation, it is ridiculous for them to have equal carries. Hell, take 5 of those away from Thorne and give to Hunter and we probably win. Even if Hunter gets an insignificant carry for 2 yards instead of a pick-6, we punt and possibly win the game.

The play calling in some of these games is just random it seems. Even the Georgia game he averaged 7.0 ypc, but only got 13 carries for 91 yards. Running the ball and keeping our defense off the field is the way that game should have been played. Yet our RB averaging 7 yoc on them isn't utilized and they wore us down and broke us at the end. Just a bad plan imo.

With the offense being so heavily RPO oriented its kinda hard to divvy carries if the correct reads are being made.

I don't think most fans will ever catch on to that

I realize this, but every call doesn't have to be RPO. Surely this staff has taught inside zone or some stretch plays. Take the option out and put it in your best players hands. Especially down the stretch in crunch time.

It is the same thing we were all saying after that OU game when Freeze chewed Thorne out for the incompletions that burned no clock.

Every time Thorne runs, he isn’t throwing, and it takes some focus off of Jarquez, so PT runs are a positive. I think they also help Thorne get into the game. When he’s just sitting the pocket he makes bad decisions and throws, when he’s running he seems to also make better throws.

The epitome of Thorne's mid passing ability is his running ability. He isn't electric but he can sometimes break off a 10 yard gain. He needs less carries but at the same he is someone the defense needs to account for. I question whether a Cam Ward would even like our offense. It's pretty hard and sometimes QBs dont want to get hit. Even some fast QBs would rather throw the ball.

Hunter is playing on another level. He just runs like he is mad and has been doing so all year long.

I think hes good enough to make the offense work without having to be a zone read threat. Pavia on the other hand would be auburn football jesus and hugh's offense would be his gospel. Won't be able to see that til I get my alternate reality machine up and running tho.

He is the only way we’re going to beat Vandy, too. We’ve got to keep Pavia off the field.

Speaking of Vandy, how is their run defense? Anyone know?
