1s walk off grand slam homer in World Series history last night for the Dodgers.
Braves couldn't afford to keep him.
Congrats Freddie...

Matt Olson had 7 more HRs and 10 more RBI this season and didn’t have the hitters around him that Freddie had.
I loved Freddie when he was here, but he wanted too much, for too long at his age. We locked in a younger version of him for longer and paying less.
$ for $, we got a much better deal.
Doesn’t mean I didn’t love FF when he was here and still like when he does well

$140 million was more than enough. I don't know what LA offered him but once you factor in CA taxes he may not be all that far ahead vs the ATL offer.
These goobers make too much money. It's hard to rally around athletes who complain or feel slighted when they're making more than any of us will ever see in our lifetimes.

Yes it’s definitely more in taxes and cost of living. But just so you know, you pay taxes in the State you play the game in. So his whole salary wasn’t against California taxes…and Olson he probably played 20-30 games in California

Truth.
And if I recall correctly, I believe Freeman was not happy that his agent painted him in a corner such that he had to take the LA deal, or was never informed of Atlanta's final offer (which he would have accepted). He fired his agent like 5 minutes after the deal went down.

Matt also played 15 more games than Freddie.
Freddie had a better WAR, BA, OBP, OPS, and OPS+
Freddie was the Chipper for this generation he should have been a lifetime Brave. His agent and AA fricked up the whole thing.
Olsen is fine but I'd take still take Freddie. I look for Olsens bat to ball skills to continue to decline. Where as Freddie is one of the best pure hitters in the league and probably always will be

So we got even more value than I mentioned. Excellent!! So we really, really did better $ for $, as we got more games out of Olsen

Well, no. He provided less value to our team despite playing more games, than Freddie did for the Dodgers.

So more HR, same amount of Rs and more RBI is less value? I think what you mean, is we paid a dude to play 162 games and he did. Dodgers had to pay even more for another guy to play those 15 games….so we got more value
It’s also a lot easier to hit for FF, considering, the guys around him this season

It's funny that you are touting Olsons RBI numbers and then claiming it's easier for Freddie due to the lineup.
And yes I will take the player that has the better OPS over HR and RBIs. Check the walks and strikeout numbers.
Freddie has been the better player since he moved to LA. that might change as time goes forward, but I doubt it. Olson has a huge hole in his long arse swing and I don't see that improving.

Olson's 2023 season was something that Freeman could never do.

I was very happy for him. That was great. He’s an awesome person.

Look we'd all take Freddie.
But Matt still has the 2nd best WAR of any first baseman in baseball. Let's not act like he's chopped liver.

Don't let Broski on the MSB see this.
