Sad state after being ranked #1 just weeks ago.
4 SEC teams ranked above the Tide.

AL.com article

I can take a loss if we just get whipped, but we look unprepared and lost.

Our defense was locked in and more prepared than I had imagined. The offense was the unit who looked like they skipped the film and all of the offensive meetings/practices all week long.

Alabama has regressed severely over the last 4 games overall. The defense looked good on Saturday, but everything else has gotten worse and worse.

Passing:
190 QB rating, then 188, then 142, then 98.

Rushing
5.41 yards per carry, then 4, then 2.7 then 2.2

Scoring
41 points, then 35, then 27, then 17.

We will be out of the top 25 by the end of the regular season. A complete implosion. The question is, will there be a wholesale exodus of our players? Will the players "buy in" to Coach DeBoer?

At least they aren't as bad as that 2000 team.

The UGA game was that punt return by Freddie Milons. Everyone I watched the game with thought Bama was going to win the national title when he did that.

2000 team was 3-8, coming off an SEC title.

Yes and no. Our defense was gifted with a Tennessee QB that couldn't hit the broadside of a barn in the first half. Big plays were there in the passing game to really embarrass Alabama. That said, the defense did play well in the first half, for this squad, but were not helped at all by the offense. It was an abysmal performance by them.
The defense fell apart in the second half beginning mid third quarter. A knife through warm butter on the 91 yard drive. Stupid personal foul penalties also didn't help.
On the third down play where UT took the lead, it looked like Alabama decided not to pressure and it gave the QB time to hit the game winning TD in the back of the EZ.
Overall, I wouldn't be fooled into thinking the defense has turned some kind of corner. They have not.

But the difference was, That 2000 team was undisciplined, weak, and coached by guys who the players didn’t respect.

We could easily lose 5 games playing like we have the last 3.5 games.

Rest of the season is going to go 1 of 2 ways. They are either going to get real down, pout, check out, and the poor play will continue and compound, and it will be the worst season in almost 2 decades, or they will get pissed, have some pride, dig deep, get their shite together, and start playing to the level that we all know they are capable of playing at.

This team can be really good, that is the frustrating part, they just gotta get their heads out of their asses.

Agree I’m not worried about the record as much as the product in the field. N large part the youth was the concern but this has been the experienced players not stepping up and the youth has in large part not been the major issue.

What's most maddening to me is 17 yrs of Alabama getting the benefit of doubt is completely gone. Can see Alabama ranked somewhere in the 15-20 range in next season's initial poll.

What does DeBoer represent ideology wise to "buy in" to ?

Handing out Captain honors pre season before anything has been earned on the field ?

Not allowing players to compete for the QB job before simply anointing someone before spring practice ?

Having a more relaxed atmosphere where guys get patted on the arse after losing to Vandy ?

Every player gets to pick a song to be played during practice ?

Coaches being much happier because they get to go home early, and spend more time at home instead of working around the clock to get better ?

LANK ?

It was UCLA. We kicked off, shut ucla down with a 3 and out, punt, Milons returns it for a TD, and yes, even I high fived everyone around me and said a NC was in the bag.

Then Deshaun Foster joyless muderballed us

I'd love for this to happen, but if losing to fricking Vanderbilt wasn't a wake up call I don't see how losing to UTk will be.

Fair point, but the defense has improved IMO, and we know that the offense is capable of scoring points. Maybe they'll get back on track?

I meant that the UGA game this year was like the punt return in the UCLA game in that it gave the fans a false sense of impending success.
