Over or Under 20 million for these 2 games combined?

2:30 Alabama @ Tennessee
6:30 Georgia @ Texas

I'm going over.

Bama/Tenn did 8M in the afternoon last year.

Bama/UGA is the high-water mark this year at 12M.

So 20M between the two is conceivable, but not a given.

Two games in the same day going over 8M is fairly unusual.

Texas vs UGA is going to need Bama fans to match this viewing number - and Bama fans are checking out.

I agree with your calc, but that's why I think 20 is a good number to pick.

Texas/GA ~ 12-14
Bama/TN ~ 6-8

If Bama wins.. the number will be higher for the Texas game..

If Bama loses.. a lot of fans will go jump off the closest bridge..

It should help both games going back to back though.. those are 4 pretty big fan bases..

The thing is, you need fans outside of those fan bases to commit to 8 straight hours of football.

When 2 big viewerships happen in a week, the B1G is always a big piece of that.

The top 2 SEC games have been doing 12M combined. The CBS primetime double header last year combined for 17M, as did this years Bama/UGA & OU/Auburn.

I know Texas fans think they bring a lot to the table, but 20% over the best of the best weekends is a taller order than you might think.

It wasn't based on that..

the only B1G game on Saturday night
Iowa @ Michigan State

the only ACC game on Saturday
SMU @ Stanford

Georgia Tech plays @ 2:30
Clemson plays @ 11 am
Alabama plays @ 2:30
Auburn plays @ 11 am
Oklahoma plays @ 11:45 am
Texas A&M plays @ 3:15
Oregon plays on Friday
Ohio State is on a bye
Penn State is on a bye
Nebraska plays at 11 am
Indiana plays at 11 am
Rice plays @ 2:30
UTSA plays @ 2:30
UTEP plays thursday
Houston plays @ 2:30
TCU plays @ 9:30
Baylor plays @ 3:00
Texas State plays at 2:30
Boise State is on a bye

There are a couple of Big 12 games that are decent.. but there is really only 1 game that will steal some eyeballs..

LSU @ Arkansas

It's a pretty big empty window. If someone is watching college football on Saturday night, there's a pretty good chance they are watching one of those two games..

If all four teams were undefeated it would be a safer pick for the over.

Well if it was easy, it wouldn't be as hard to predict. Based on the responses, I think 20 million is a good number. It could definitely go either way.

Over.

Ohio State and Penn State are off this week as well as Oregon playing Friday night means Big 10 fans like myself will be watching the SEC.

Spoiler Alert...I watch all conferences good games...lol.

composite schedule certainly favors the over -

at some point everyone watching CFB will tune into #7 at #11 in a pure hate rivalry - as well as checking in on #5 at #1 -

those two SEC games may not average 20M+ combined per Neilen criteria but at some point peak viewership for each will be greater when combined -

I don’t see Bama tenner attracting anyone outside their own fan base. Bama not playing the norm Bama any longer and TSee complete arse on offense against anyone in the SEC. Love these non-conference crème puffs to start the year.

I’ll be watching AL vs TN because the loser is likely out of the SEC CG and maybe out of the playoffs
