No dice involved. Trust me check it out. need 3 or 4 players to enjoy this game. I hate Risk. It is mostly luck. I have played all kinds of games and there is King Maker.

I've heard Strat-o-matic is pretty good but never played it. I played Paydirt some when I was a kid but it's probably hard to come by a copy of that these days. Honestly once football made the leap to video games, attempts to model it as a board game seem to have died off.

Yes, definitely!

The game comes with 135 cards (60 offense, 60 defense, 15 special teams), a die, and a board. There are also magnets for the 32 NFL teams that you can place on the board to identy your side, and a basic scoreboard system.

Each player draws a hand of five cards, then selects one from that hand and places it face down. They flip the cards and see how they compare.

Here’s an example:

Chiefs on offense: draw a 10-yard pass, a 10-yard run, a 5-yard screen, a 20-yard draw, and a 40-yard pass.

Colts on defense: draw 2 pass defenses, 2 rush defenses, and 1 all-out blitz.

The types of plays are color-coded for cross-referencing. Basic pass plays/defenses are blue, basic run plays/defenses are green, play action is yellow, etc. So, in this example, Chiefs pick 10-yard pass (blue). Colts pick a run defense (green). If you check the cards, it will say that if the defender picked a Green card, you get the full 10-yard gain and a first down, and both players draw a full hand.

Let’s say the offense picked a run play. Therefore, it’s no gain = second down. So, they pick another card. This continues until a turnover, score, punt, or TOD occurs. After every first down, both teams refresh their hand to five.

The die is used only on PATs/FGs.

It’s a very easy game to learn, and it’s fun when you consistently outguess your opponent (especially on defense).

In short, yes, I think your kid would love it.
