Overcoming Beck's Issues

It seems as if he's regressed a bit since last year
1) Inability to hit a receiver in stride, esp on the long ball. This was an issue last year and I thought he was making strides last year to clean it up, but apparently not. Far too many short rounds, like that fade to seal the bama game. He has yet to hit anyone in stride.
2) Accuracy during hurry up vs normal: It seems that his accuracy is much better when in hurry up. Why, don't know.
Not quite sure what is in his head.

23-29 for 240 yds and TD with no picks in a rivalry game. I read another interesting stat; He was 20-20 for passes 15 yds or less.
I think most folks would consider those pretty good numbers. I realize the TOs in the Bama game hurt, but if Smith doesn't let that long bomb there at the beginning go right through his hands, he'd have had over 500 yds, against Bama, in THEIR stadium. I'd like to know how many QBs have done that in the last 20 years.
I guess I'm saying, you're probably smarter than me when it comes ot footballology, but I just don't think Beck is as bad as what some are saying. But that's just a non-expert opinion, FWIW.

All QBs have issues. A lot are not their own doing.

Hitting in stride/short rounds are definitely his doing - how many times have receivers had to stop and come back? Accuracy is, too. Now, on the flip side, drops hurt numbers, but there have been more than a few behind/over/under.

Honestly losing Bowers, McConkey, and Jack Saint was tough. Those are the guys he came up with.

losing those guys and replacing them with equivalents would hurt any QB.
When Arian Smith is your #1 go-to receiver that spells trouble.

Apparently some the disagreements between Beck and Bobo revolve around Arians usage. Beck would prefer to have Bell, Young, and Lovett on the field more than Arian.
Bobo and Kirby think Arian has earned game reps based on working hard to improve in weak areas. Hard to justify that going forward when he is dropping keys ball and messing up play calls two weeks in a row.

Oh, so really we don't know if it even happened.

Arian is a wide open type ball catcher. Not one to make a contested catch, he uncontested catch vs OSU however was a thing of beauty.

He's not standing as tall in the pocket as he did last year imo. Would rather check it down or pretend like he's about to scramble at the first whiff of pressure instead staying with his read and risk taking a hit.
Right now he seems to have one foot in and one foot out, like Stafford did. I guess we'll see what happens.

The turnovers vs Bama didn't just hurt; they were the difference in the game.
Without them, we win by at least a TD.
And those turnovers were unforced errors. It's not like Beck was being hit when he threw those INTs. Our OL actually gave Beck pretty decent protection in that game.
The fumble was the same. He was running to his right behind the line of scrimmage and everybody in the stadium could see that he was about to be tackled and he didn't take care of the ball.
The Safety was the same. He just lofted the ball down the middle of the field; He should have at least tossed in out of bounds on the right side where the refs might have given him the benefit of the doubt regarding a receiver in the area.
Let's face it: Beck had a bad game in our most important game of the season. There's no other way to spin it. He had a QB rating of 88.3.
But to be fair, Beck had a great game vs Auburn with a QB rating of 132.93.

It seems like there is nobody on either side of the ball that has taken charge and leads the team. Van-Pran ran the offensive line for three years and they were as good as any in the country. Cine and Dean led the defense.

IMO, the issue isn't what is in his head. The issue is what is in Las Vegas and Los Angeles now. Brock and Ladd are special receivers who both have absurd separation skills.

While I believe in capitalism, I am not sure shopping for Lambos and Private Jet Providers while living in a large suburban home playing with Ferraris is the best way to stay focused and keep the main thing the main thing. Add a mouthy, mid, social media influencer girl friend and you have a mess.
