If this board is any indication it just seems something more like this:

Getting to attend the Texas state fair has to help with the ease of a loss. Loser can still eat fried (insert any type of food here) until they go into a coma.

Very much a hated rivalry. I hate anything Texas with a passion. They hate anything Oklahoma with a passion. The night before the game at the West End, all over where both sets of fans are at, there’s constant badgering back and forth. There’s genuine hate and disdain between the two.

I went to the RRSO from 1998-2004, 2007-2008, 2010-2012. It’s one hell of an atmosphere. The fair adds to the craziness as fans are all over the place badgering back and forth.

There is a mutual respect when it comes to the accomplishments, the joining together to move to the SEC, and the competition. But it’s mostly hate everywhere else.

Yes. The shite we do to Whorn fans at my work is hilarious. Constant horn down sign when we walk by each other all year long and turning their flags upside down when they’re off work. I don’t hate Texas in general. Just don’t like the Longhorns team.

Way back in the day on the Friday night before the game, thousands of Texas and BlowU fans would rally on Commerce St. in Dallas. Many articles written, and real people experience that several hundreds and even thousands would be arrested on that night from year to year for various acts.
Back in the mid to late 60s the violence was probably at it's peak, but not fatally.
Remember back then drinking in public was legal, and encouraged.
Death struck in 1992 with perhaps the most violent year, and this "Rally" was curtailed and diminished in nature.
Below is link to article from 2017 that reflects back on the year 1992 violence.
YES, This is a rivalry. Don't let this keyboard internet warrior crap sway any thoughts that it is not.

Items to note:
Texas state fair, largest in the country.
Stadium split EXCTLY down the middle with equal number of fans, 46,050 each.
Distance from UT Austin campus to Fair Park = 195.3 miles.
Distance from OU Norman Campus to Fair Park = 191.3 miles.

Well …. It’s a Big12 rivalry. “There’s mutual respect, but uh .. “.

But if you’re used to SEC rivalries, you don’t see OU/UTrans as much more than an annual schoolgirl hissy fit.

Think about the big12 2-3 years ago. Is that what jumped in your mind when you thought about college football rivalries? Of course not.

It was a big rivalry LONG before the Big12 was formed.
The first game between Texas and Oklahoma was played in 1900. Texas won that game 28-2 and the two teams have played each other annually ever since, excluding in 1918, 1920, 1921, and 1924-1928.

In 2019, the intensity of the rivalry was illustrated perfectly by then-Texas head coach Tom Herman's first memory of the game. Herman told reporters his first memory depicting the sheer intensity of UT versus OU was as a grad assistant. He said he remembered looking out the window of the Texas bus to see an 80-year-old woman and an 8-year-old boy both giving him the double bird.

This is what most people are missing. Mutual respect and immense hatred* are not mutually exclusive.

This.

They act like they don't like each other, but if you shite on one of them the other immediately comes to their defense...and this forum has been no exception.

Rivalry my arse.

No. They spend more time defending each other than anything else. And you will never see the alleged rivalry play out among the fans in other contexts. Meaning, they don't really care except for one day a year.

Each side cherishes the game, not because it's a hated rivalry, but because they believe it strengthens their brands.

OU and Texas believe it is. Not a national thing. More about bragging rights between the two lovers.

OU and Texas are married together. They follow each other around, like a gay couple.

Texas likes to have em around so they can also pick on them and make themselves feel better when looking in the mirror.

If Texas is truly #1, they will win by 28+ pts.

It is basically a massive frat party in Dallas. Bunch of pretenders in cowboy boots and white shirts.

Please, I beg you, name one game that a&m has played over the last 20 years that is more relevant than the shootout lol

I know an aggie fan that just watched his team finish unranked after being preseason ranked in each of the last 3 years isn’t talking about “pretenders”

You are so jealous that a&m doesn’t get the same amount of attention it’s adorable lol
