Resharing a post from our home board. The poster typically has really good intel from throughout the league.

"A friend of mine works in the AD of LSU and he told me the nine game schedule is a possibility starting in 2026. The hold up has always been that half the teams were going to get five home games. However, according to him that has maybe been solved with all teams having a neutral site game against a conference opponent. As he said, Texas/Okie, A&M/Arkie, & FL/GA already do this. Bama/AU for years played in Birmingham. To make this plan work, this would be the tentative sites: Texas/Okie in Dallas, GA/FL in Jacksonville, Bama/AU in Birmingham, Ole Miss/MSU somewhere, TN/Vandy at Titans Stadium, LSU/A&M in Houston, UK/So Car in Atlanta, & Mizzou/Arkie in Kansas City. The schools holding this up so far are Arkie & UK. Arkie thinks the game should be in Little Rock & UK wants no part of a nine game schedule."

IMO Charlotte makes more sense for UK/SCAR. Guessing Ole Miss/MS State would be in Jackson?

Same for Egg Bowl in Jackson. That city is not safe to play in, will not happen.

Exactly what I would expect from a Mizzou fan. Has zero idea about anything in the SEC.

Auburn would probably leave the conference before they allowed the game to be played within 30 minutes of Tuscaloosa every year again.

And I don't know what stadium they expect the game to be played in because Legion Field ain't it. It only holds 71k, is in a terrible neighborhood and not in the best of shape last I heard.

Do you really think LSU will agree to playing Aggies in Houston every season? They could play it in Astrodome, that would be cool, bring back Astroworld

Ain't no way Iron Bowl is going back to a neutral site that favors bama

I personally think most insiders are full of shite. They don't realize what they are actually saying the majority of times, and it makes them somewhat easy to debunk.

I'm probably the least connected person, but I do know a total of 1 actual insider. He doesn't tell me a bunch of secrets because he doesn't generally give a shite about impressing me, why would he? I get good answers to questions and so on, but it's very rarely anything more than what any reporter would get. And when it is more, it's usually long after it's happened.

Not shooting the messenger.

The biggest holdup to the 9 game schedule is the four teams who have out-of-conference ACC rivals.

If the other 12 teams were to start playing a Big10 team every year, this becomes far less of a hurdle.

Of course, UTK (ncsu), Ole Miss (wake), Texas (Michigan), and LSU (southern cal and Ucla) have already done that this year. UGA gets extra credit for Clemson to tag with GT.

But if it's a move to a 9game schedule, there has to be some assurance that the rest of the conference doesn't pad schedules completely, and still has a major home-n-home annually.

So I know Kentucky and Kentucky fans are happy to start playing someone like Indiana during a 9 game schedule.

That said, the Kentucky state legislature has threatened to pass legislation forcing us to play Louisville every year out of fear that they will become irrelevant if we don't.

Lol Kansas City - I don't know about Little Rock, but yeah I could see us not wanting to play Mizzou on the road every year

That's not even a big recruiting area for us. I could see the SEC trying to pull some shite like that on us though

SC/Clemson is state law already. The 2020 covid year was the first time in 100 that we hadn't played.

As he said, Texas/Okie, A&M/Arkie, & FL/GA already do this

This was the last year of the contract to play the game at Jerry World. Game will be in Fayetteville next year.

You got trolled. Legion Field is a shithole and there's about an 80.3% chance you won't make it back to the car alive.

They'll play in Mobile or Huntsville before they ever play in Birmingham again.
