Kane Wommack claims to have been conservative with his playbook.
Do you expect to see anything new from the offense and defense?

Obviously yes.
They will do new things as well

Haven't seen a ton of exotic blitzes yet. I expect to see some things to try to confuse Beck.

That as well as some pass concepts to confuse

I'd like to be surprised by some successful crossing routes

Jalen, Jam and Haynes come out first possession in the Wishbone

The defense definitely hasn't had to pull anything too crazy yet.
The offense just needs a healthy offensive line and for everyone to nail their assignments on every play.

The offense really should be run heavy the rest of the season. Whether it is dive plays, read option, or designed runs for Milroe, it's pretty clearly the bread and butter and sets up some huge pass plays for Jalen.

Yeah i would like to see us call about 8 run plays in a row and just march up field. Probably wont happen against Georgia, but somewhere along the way. "Make their arse quit!"

maybe the offense braintrust could get milroe to throw law a few passes.
maybe the defense can not give up 15-20 play drives. whatever exotic scheme they need to run in order to prevent these type drives will be kool.

Honestly I’d rather play our bend don’t break style that we’ve done so far and see if Beck can beat us rather than throw a bunch of blitzes. Beck gets flustered in tight games

For discussion sake, which tight games did he get flustered in last year?

yeah, I don't recall Beck getting too rattled, not to any kind of significant degree at least.

I look at the 4 games against FBS teams that he’s played with Bowers and Ladd either out, limited, or graduated (Florida State is a huge cluster that I have no idea if I should count or not)
2023 Georgia Tech:
13/20 (65%) 175 yards (8.75 YPA) 1 td 1 int
2023 Bama
21/29 (72%) 243 yards (8.3 YPA) 0 td 0 int (like 4 dropped ints)
2024 Clemson
23/33 (70%) 278 yards (8.4) 2 td 0 int
2024 Kentucky
15/24 (63%) 160 yards (6.7) 0 td 0 int
That’s 1 great game and 3 pedestrian games. I think it’s fair to ask whether his average performance here gets a win. I think it’s also fair to ask if he can actually achieve these numbers in the toughest game of his life

Hopefully we see a new commitment to stopping the run. Went back and watched Wisconsin and they ran very effectively. Anyone else knowledgeable about if it’s run fits or getting blocked?

It's a combination of things, I think.
(a) We definitely missed some fits and had a few misalignments in that game (the fumble on the big run I think I remember LT lined up on the wrong side and just left the left side wide open).
(b) The scheme is not set up to make the perfect call to allow 0 yards on each rush. In a perfect world that would happen, but part of not giving up big plays is accepting 2-3 yard rushes most of the time.

Yea I don't think Beck gets flustered in big games, but I do question how he will play against high level athletes without an overwhelming run game or some of the WRs/TEs he had last year.
So far the results have been pretty mixed.

FWIW his splits in opposing territory and And-Goal situations are fantastic so there is nothing concrete that suggests that bending not breaking is the secret formula
