He'd be immediately on the hot seat in most fans mind, although the reality is this was always going to be a 4-5 year minimum stay for him considering the contract.

Furious but his contract protects him from any real danger
This would be a brutal loss for Kelly

And this shows what a ridiculous league the SEC is….a loss on the road, against a solid team, at a place where it is always tough to win, would be considered a brutal loss.

Keep this in mind: Your average fan has no real idea of what’s really going on within a program and has no patience.
If you are a fan who truly follows your team, understands it well, and has patience, you understand what Kelly walked into and what he faced to get the program to where we want it.
A good comparison is Michigan. Harbaugh took the job, had decent success in year one, like LSU, but had a massive rebuild it needed to get it back to a championship contending level. Everyone was all over Harbaugh’s case for his first 4 years there and said he was overrated, etc. Well… in his final 3 years, Michigan was an extremely strong program.
Kelly faces the same challenges Harbaugh did at Michigan. It was always a 4/5 year rebuild in order to get LSU back to a championship contending program.
So… to answer your question, a lot of fans will be on his case, but the important ones will still support him and understand what’s really going on.

It will be real bad.
The Southern Cal game was kind of a must win for him.
If he drops one this weekend the heat will begin.

If we throw one incomplete pass or miss a tackle he’s on the hot seat In Rant’s eyes.

Overall class rankings are one thing. His initial defensive hires sucked. They were lazy hires, and they didn't fill needs in recruiting at key positions like DT and CB. That's why our defense is in the shape it's in right now. That's the main thing he deserves criticism for.

Should have just kept O's defensive staff, in retrospect.

Ehh, still seeing big picture. We’re realistically a couple years away from having the type of roster you need to win another championship. No DL depth, DB depth is top heavy. Unbalanced in certain spots. I expect to win though.
Question i have is for all the LSU doomcasting and wishcasting on this board ahead of this matchup, if we win, will the board pipe down about us and BK for a few weeks or will the goalposts shift to “lets see how they look against Arkansas?”
