I seem to remember that you are suppose to have some good catfish joints. Going there for work in a couple weeks and was wondering what the best one is? Thanks

Catfish John's in Rogers
exit 86
white/Hispanic "ghetto" area
"The catfish was thick and meaty, fried crisp in clean grease and very tasty."
Well there it is
Catfish Hole in Fayetteville is like Rendezvous BBQ in Memphis acting like they're doing you a favor giving you proper portions

They source local?
(we used to joke about Lake Dardanelle catfish with the nuke operation there)
Back in the 60's and 70's I dove around Pennakamp and there was as mom & pop joint where they fished the food right off the dock, cleaned, and served it at the table. Probably the best seafood joint ever.

Lake Dardenelle is Arkansas River
NWA catfish would most surely be White River catfish, which runs INTO the Arkansas River/Miss River area, not the opposite
There should be a John Grisham novel called White River Catfish

We ate at Catfish John’s during our trip up last year. It was good, but not super special.
If you want a great dinner, I’d suggest Theo’s. It was phenomenal. Pricy but very very good.

Here is the weird thing.
It is very hard to find a good fried chicken place here... in the capitol of chicken production. And Catfish tends to be a Delta product. You can find it here but unless you are willing to pay for a specialty food, you go to Captain John's. Which is solid catfish.
NW Arkansas, as a whole, is a food lover's paradise except for two of the staples of Southern food. You would think catfish and fried chicken would be a restaurant every other block but what can we say?

AQ Chicken died on the hill of insisting on lemon-pepper seasoning, if I remember correctly
I also believe they may have begun to hire "unfireable" angry old bitches as servers

I hate to ask, but have you tried Captain John's for fried chicken yet? I've tried their catfish, which is pretty good. But not their fried chicken.
Ugh. I have friends in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada who have a great fried chicken place just down the street from them and I can't find one in NW Arkansas... the holy Mecca of chicken.

I know Alberta is a long way, but I had food in Ontario, and it was awful

You are just upset I've had sex in the last decade and you last got lucky when Bill Clinton was saying "I feel your pain."

I like the blackened catfish at Eat My Catfish, but it’s an overpriced fast casual place

That is... very true. Mom likes the gumbo they sell from time to time but its a bit pricey for the quality of the food. Drop a few bucks on the price point and I'd be ordering from them every week or two.
