Milroe with Deboer.
Milroe with Saban, Tommy Reese and Bill O'Brien.

What does your gut tell you?

By virtue of better line play he improves, but my gut tells me that we're all going to underwhelmed by what we see this season.

Milroe under DeBoer could turn out to be a really potent combination. I for one am excited to what Jalen can do with top tier offensive coaching

Gut tells me he turned the corner. I hope I'm right.

O'Brien just told him to switch positions. O'Brien only "coaches" Heisman winners

Tommy Rees's provenance as a qb coach is non-existent. He's now a TE coach.

Deboer is a qb whisperer. It took him 5 minutes to evaluate Milroe and assess what needed to be done.

Just wait.

Our QB Coach was our TE coach before Shepherd left

I think Jalen makes a leap with the first competent QB coaching he's ever gotten. But if he doesn't I also have confidence DeBoer switches to Ty if necessary. DeBoer knows the expectations at Bama and the standard Saban set and I find it hard to believe he doesn't play whoever gives us the best chance to win.

I think Millie wins the Heisman.

Milroe will rush for 100+ yards (at least one run of 50+ yards) vs WKU and hit enough passes for Bama to win w/o breaking a sweat. Basic run heavy, timely passes playbook.

Ditto vs South FL. Basic playbook.

Milroe will play well enough vs Wisconsin for Bama to win by 15+. New formations, physical run game, and new pass formations/routes as playbook opens up a little.

Bama 3 - 0 going into the UGA game. First real test for Milroe in 24. Expect it will take 31-35 points to win. If Milroe delivers 14+ points in first half, he will finish the game, barring injury or multiple turnovers. If he struggles in first half, Simpson plays meaningful second half snaps.

All I care about is wins - Barker didn't have great stats and won a title - Coker had intangibles that made him a winner and won a title - McElroy had intellect and adequate skills and won a title - the common denominator in those teams was good/great defense. If Bama's 24 defense is good/great, Milroe can win a title.

Hoping Deboer to Milroe is like Kiffin was to Sims.

has he improved his reading defenses? has he improved his ball placement? has he improved his timing, releasing the ball on time? if hes improved these areas then it should be a really good year for him. if not, well i just hope deboer will try someone else.

If they run the offense for milroe like DeBoer did at Sioux Falls, milroe will lead the country in TDs. He will have someone like 35 passing and 15-20 rushing. Deboer knows how to tailor the offense for what the QB is good at, which O'Brien wasnt interested in, and Rees wasn't capable of.

Yeah, I don't know. This is my only concern. Deboer came in and there was never any mention of a competition. The fans and media mostly assumed it was Milroe's job, and it seemed like Deboer just assumed it was too. If Milroe did something to impress KD, it must have been before Deboer landed in Tuscaloosa. I'm not saying Milroe wouldn't have won the job. It just seems like he didn't have to.

I have to assume Deboer knows what he's doing, but I expected Simpson to give Milroe some serious competition. I'll cautiously climb back aboard the Milroe train, but if there's not obvious improvement from last year, it's going to be difficult not to lose a bit of trust in the new staff - not that the staff, players, or anyone else cares about my trust.

Milroe won SEC Championship MVP, 6th in the Heisman, and took Alabama to the playoffs. I think he had done enough for Deboer to see him as the guy. If he wasn't capable of running the offense I assume he wouldn't be starting tomorrow.

yep, when we had 4th and 1 or 2 on Michigan, Milroe didnt snap the ball on the ground. He didnt call the play. He wasn't the right Tackle that got knocked under the quarterbacks feet by a Michigan 3 star 230 pound transfer student.

I hope our coaches base these decisions on what the players actually do on the field. I don't really want to argue about it any more. I just want to see whoever the QB is look like he understands what to do before, during, and after the snap.
