Texas A&M will be #21. This, of course, doesn't include the 7 trips Notre Dame made to Georgia Tech and Tulane combined between 1932 and 1963 (4 @GT and 3 @Tulane with ND winning all 7 games).
The Irish have ventured into SEC Country a total of 13 times since 1963 and have a 7-6 overall record to show for it.
How can we (at least me, because I vividly remember the first time vs. LSU!) forget all the national hype of ND's game against LSU in 1971!! Wow! Tigers tore'em up!
Here's the list of ND's games into SEC territory since 1971....let's hope Texas A&M can even up the score by taking the win next Saturday!
Texas A&M crushed Notre Dame at College Station in September of 2001, 24-3; however, A&M wasn't an SEC member when this was played, so this one doesn't count.
--- Nov. 20, 1971: 28-8 LOSS at LSU
--- Sept. 17, 1977: 20-13 LOSS at Ole Miss
--- Nov. 10, 1979: 40-18 LOSS at Tennessee
--- Nov. 15, 1980: 7-0 win at Alabama (way to go, Tide!)
--- Oct. 27, 1984: 30-22 win at LSU
--- Oct. 4, 1986: 28-10 LOSS at Alabama (much better!)
--- Nov. 22, 1986: 21-19 LOSS at LSU
--- Nov. 10, 1990: 34-29 win at Tennessee
--- Sept. 5, 1996: 14-7 win at Vanderbilt (oh, how the 'Dores nearly won this!)
--- Nov. 15, 1997: 24-6 win at LSU
--- Nov. 6., 1999: 38-14 LOSS at Tennessee
--- Nov. 6, 2004: 17-13 win at Tennessee
--- Sept. 21, 2019: 23-17 LOSS at Georgia
Future Notre Dame trips to SEC Country...........
--- Sept. 27, 2025: at Arkansas
--- Sept. 14, 2030: at Alabama
--- Sept. 11, 2032: at Florida

If you're snorting Venezulan crack, I guess it isn't.
For you snorting Cows, this isn't amazing, either: Texas has a losing record to Notre Dame, 3-9.

There is a lot of talk going around that ND and USC may cancel their annual game. USC apparently think their schedule is too tough with them entering the BIG. That might be a mistake, particularly for ND when it comes time for playoff selection.

I fondly remember an Aggie Defender taking browns towel in the cotton bowl when I was a kid in Dallas.
ATM cruised in that one.
Enjoyed that game.
Lemme go find it.

I'm actually shocked Notre Dame played LSU all those times
LSU made some trips to South Bend as well

I remember SC playing ND in Columbia in 1983. But SC wasn't SEC then.

Here’s an amazing fun fact: JetDawg looks like this

It's just talk. USC won't cancel that series, the greatest inter-sectional rivalry in the history of collegiate sports.

Of course he is only listing games where ND played on the road in the SEC.
If we added in ND home games against SEC opponents there would be more games. Assuming these were all home and home series' that gets you 40 games vs. SEC in 53 years.
That works out to 8 or 9 games a decade. That is a pretty high frequency all things considered.

If you look at Notre Dame's record vs SEC (when the games were played) teams it would be:
Bama - 5-3
Florida - 1-0
Georgia - 0-3
Georgia Tech - 8-2
LSU - 7-5
Ole Miss - 1-1
USCe - 1-0
Tennessee - 4-4
Tulane - 6-0
Vandy - 3-0
They have played LSU more than any other SEC program.
Now, if you include when they weren't in the SEC...it adds 3 more games to USCe, 27 more games to Georgia Tech, and 2 more games to Vandy...along with 12 games against Texas (9-3) and 11 vs Oklahoma (9-2).

Lincoln Riley thinks the schedule is too tough. I don't think Riley is going to be around long enough to exercise his unique brand of football wimpiness and destroy another tradition.

That really isn’t even remotely amazing.
An out of conference team playing at an SEC 20 times in the last 53 seasons. WOW. Amazing.

This game was in Jackson not Oxford. My uncle went to it and used to talk about it. Joe Montana was the Notre Dame QB

Posturing. He thinks it’s too tough as a NON conference game. More pressure from big to get nd in a conference.

This is one of my earliest football memories. I remember watching this on a tv at a restaurant and everyone was huddled up hoping Notre Dame would lose.

We even played them twice in the same season in 1997 and we won the bowl game rematch. We then played them again in 1998.

I think Jackson is still in SEC Country, so we'll count it! :)

Still find it amazing that Auburn and Notre Dame have never played in football…. Had never played in basketball either until last year.
