Would 10 Team Playoff be Better than 12?

Looking for general opinions. I feel like 12 team playoff might get tricky with teams losing conference championships to get pushed out and teams sitting at home rewarded. Does 12 teams not put enough emphasis on rewarding a great regular season?
I believe a better format would be 10 teams with #1 and #2 overall seeds getting byes and automatically in Semis. Therefore placing emphasis on regular season still and rewarding an SEC champion team with a gauntlet of a schedule over giving them the same benefit as the #4 seed 10-3 ACC champion who played one ranked team all year.
Quarter Finals:
(Winner of #7 v #6)plays (Winner of #10 v #3)
(Winner of #8 v #5)plays (#9 v #4)
Semis:
(#1 v [10/3]/[7/6] Winner)
(#2 v [9/4]/[8/5] Winner)
Opinions?

12 teams = more games to enjoy = better.

It’s 2 more than my format. 9 games vs 11 games.
All Bowl games are still implemented. Just overall better benefit for going 13-0 in the SEC as opposed to having same advantage a 10-3 acc champion gets in a weak conference.

Should 4 teams or 8 teams. No more.
Waiting for the day the Big 10 and SEC split off and do their own thing.

By that logic we should go to full NCAA tournament with play-in games.

12 is divisible by 4, 10 is not.

Yes, the #1 and #2 seeds are in the semis. The 3-10 seeds play a 1st and Quarter Final before playing 1 and 2.

12 is trash. 4 was excellent, 6 would be perfect. Anything above 6 is fricking stupid.
I would absolutely prefer 10 over 12, but sadly with the way the sport is going it's only a matter of time before it expands even bigger.

With no automatic bids from Big 12 or Group of 5, then yes.
Otherwise, only maybe.

6 is perfect.
1/2 Seeds get byes
6v3 winner plays 1 in semis
5v4 winner plays 2 in semis
12 and having conference champs get auto byes is retarded. An 11-2 ACC champ should not be rewarded the same benefit as 13-0 SEC champ. It’s just over saturated.

Which is too big of an advantage based on polling placement. No first round byes for anyone. If they are deserving to be #1 & #2, they should easily handle teams #12 and #11...right?
The extra excitement coming from the chance for the Cinderella teams to upset the hyped favorite in the opening rounds adds eyes to screens and asses to seats (and subsequent dollars to pockets).

No, need 16. Why not give the top 4 a home game instead of a bye?

The 8 teams that make the playoff regularly want a 4 team playoff. Everyone else wants a 12 or 16 team playoff.
UGA and Bama have dominated their divisions outside of LSU every once in a while. They basically blocked everyone else from having a chance to play for it. This allows more people to play for it. 12 is a good number. I wish they would take out the G5 auto bid. I wish they would go top 12, top 4 get byes and play it straight up.
I know that the first 2 weekends of the 12 team playoff are going to have huge numbers. It will be fun as hell to watch.

But it doesn’t completely devalue the importance of regular season. It’s not the NFL where there is parity everywhere. Certain conferences are much better than others. So an SEC team that goes 13-0 wins 6 ranked games and gets to play a 10-2 Power 5 team with 0 ranked wins. I mean wtf is the point of all these super conferences and conference championships without an additional benefit ?

People just value that college football is alone in how much value is granted with regular season. You have to be practically perfect. No other sport does that

It probably would make it better but there’s a zero point zero percent chance of the powers to be eliminating games that bring them piles of money.
The current 12 team format still leaves everyone with 4 post season games to win a title. *Top 4 teams having the CC games on Dec 7th vs a much more difficult opponent
The #5 seed is the place to land in this format. 1st rd vs a G5 opponent after 20 days of rest, get players healthy, & refocus your team. Then 11 day gap to Quarters, & not being “rusty” vs a 1-4 seed coming off 24 days off, the Christmas holidays, etc…

8 teams was and still is my perfect number. 12 runs the risk of watering down the playoffs most years, any more than that surely will.
Let's take Texas High School football as an example, back in my day you had to win your district to get in the playoffs and it was considered a massive accomplishment. As soon as I graduated they went to 4 teams in every district, nevermind the fact in some far west Texas districts there were only 5 teams in some cases. Even in districts with more schools it is now possible for a team with a losing record (or in some rare cases, winless) to make the playoffs.
CFB playoffs won't be that bad even if expanding past 12, but the sense of accomplishment won't be as great either. Water down the playoffs too much and you may begin to see top players save themselves for the NFL. CFB could actually kill themselves in a bid to bring in more revenue.

Great idea until your star player blows up a knee...
Should have settled on 8.
Top 4 teams get home games round 1. Neutral site for the next two rounds.
