Story behind every, single one of mine. Black only, which my skin doesn't take well, but it's my jam. I will only get them in old town Jerusalem from now on, as all have been for almost ten years.

I have a simple smiley face on my
right inner ankle. I got it with
my 3 best friends they all match. :)
I have one on each shoulder blade
one for my fiancée that died
and the other for our best friend
who passed a year later.
These are an anchor and a fleur de lis.
My half sleeve is filigree it’s the
design off the first pair of boots I
bought myself. I still have them.
and turquoise stones. Two years
ago I got hospitalized with no reason.
Since then it’s happened a lot.
I had lots of time to think about what
I wanted and what it would mean.
It’s something beautiful out of all
the bleakness that’s consumed me
these last two years. I told myself
if I make it to the other side it’s happening.
And I did. Hope that answers that.

I'm sorry dude. My shame is burned into my brain, no need for tattoos to deal with it. I prefer mine to be push me out of the shite, not keep me in it. Again, sorry.

For the boys… it was a way for me
to always have them with me.
As for my sleeve it was motivation.

Well at least it is not mandatory if you are Yakuza
Course you are not under any strict guidelines that can cost you a finger or they just slice off parts of the tattoo with a knife like skinning a deer.
The upside I guess is they can do fractions when they use their fingers to count.

Was going to get one when I was in engineer school at Camp Lejeune. 3 of us boots were going to get a USMC bulldog. So we did what we thought everyone did back then, commence to getting drunk, getting a taxi and heading off base.
By the time we got there, no one would give us one because we were hammered.
I never got around to getting one afterwards and now 37 years later, I have no real desire to get one or not. Meh.
