While it's true that not all 'energy-efficient' products are perfect, the underlying issue is often about balancing profit with genuine environmental benefits. As for ethanol, it’s a mixed bag—intended to reduce emissions, but it has its own downsides. The broader issue is finding sustainable solutions that address both environmental and practical concerns

The strawman argument here is that I’m dismissing your concerns rather than addressing them. My point is that the problems with 'energy-efficient' products reflect broader issues with how sustainability is approached in a capitalist system, not a denial of your frustrations. We need to improve both the products and the systems that produce them

Human activity does affect the environment. It does not change the climate.

Nitrogen is 78% of the atmosphere.
Oxygen is 21%.
Argon is 1%.
Carbon Dioxide is 0.48%.

CO2 makes up less than one half of one percent of the atmosphere.

NOAA

All the climate change articles and papers avoid speaking about total volumes, they only speak in terms of ppm. That's the only metric they can use to show big spikes on their scary charts. If the charts showed the big picture with all of the data, including reasonable X and Y axis ranges, it would be a lot harder to sell their bullshite.

Another big picture stat.

The entire atmosphere, all gases combined, is just over 5 million gigatons.

In 2020, it was estimated 40 gigatons of CO2 emitted by humans. This includes any emissions that get reabsorbed by oceans, plants, etc. Scientists don't have this number pinpointed. The 40 estimate is probably over estimated, and not accounting for what gets reabsorbed naturally:

Adding 40 gigatons to a bucket of 5 million gigatons is .000008 of the volume. It's like adding a teaspoon of bleach into a 1700 gallon above ground swimming pool, I'm not making those number up. Those are the actual ratios.

Put that on a chart and nobody gives a frick. The climate people won't show you those numbers.

Same, almost no rain with very hot temps through all of June and early July east of Atlanta. This past week, 7 straight days with an afternoon popup storm is very very welcome. There was always a 10 to 20% chance of a popup during that time dry time, and they did here and there, just not over my house. Now they are hitting. We were due for some rain, for sure.

We've had 11 inches of rain so far in July in Cobb County. The record I'm seeing for July i 14 inches in 2005.

LINK

I remember that summer. I think it rained every day that summer. Crazy after maybe maybe one or 2 days of rain in June.

Per NOAA, Cobb County as a whole was between 3 and 4 inches below normal this June. NOAA recently revamped their site so I can't see what it is for July so far, until July is over. Do you have a better source? Point being, if July is 3 or 4 inches above normal, it just makes up for below normal in June. That's not climate change, that's normal weather variability.

ETA- found the legacy NOAA page...only one small sliver of cobb, area around Mableton, has recorded over 10 inches of rain in July. Kennesaw Mountain has only recorded 5 to 6. Acworth 3 to 5.

Ironic you’re referencing an agency Project 2025 wants to abolish.

I believe in AGW, but it seems like a moot point when microplastics are in everyone's balls and fire retardant forever chemicals are in all fresh water until the end of time.

That funny Polish mailman might have had a point about industrial society.

Firstly, liberals and the idiot libertarians at the Heritage Foundation are the only people who even know what Project 2025 is.

Secondly, NOAA oversteps its purpose often. NOAA needs to stick to their charter, and not fishing regulations for example.

What exactly does this have to do with the fact that Project 2025 wants to abolish NOAA?

Yet here you are, using them as a reputable source. Ironic.

I don't support Project 2025 so why is it ironic that I would cite NOAA?

I have a better question for you.

You are clearly clued in, based on your tone. My question:

Why is it so hard to find a clear answer to the very basic question "how much CO2 is released naturally into the atmosphere every year through decomposition, geothermal activity, forest fires, etc.., and how much do fossil fuels release into the atmosphere every year?"

It's weird how some basic facts from their own sources and a couple of questions can make these Climate people scatter like cockroaches when the light turns on.

Prediction- one or more will be back in the morning to post science salad that doesn't address any questions or concerns I've (or others) mentioned, followed by lol's. Typical liberals lol themselves out of intellectual conversations when challenged with facts they can't refute.

I was fricking around with chatgpt yesterday and using it to troll. I think the CO2 percentage point upset the AI. It didn't have a good response that made sense
