Which hat is more iconic?

TheCaw is going with the Bear because the pattern is more distinct and recognizable. Landry’s hat is something I could picture someone in the rat pack wearing as well, so while Iconic, the bear’s hat screams “Bear Bryant” more clearly to me.

Landry played football at Texas after serving in WW2

Bryant played football at Alabama

Tough call

One I didn't know about.

The other is literally an icon.

No one would look at the second hat alone and think "Tom Landry". Pretty much any football fan would see the second hat and think "Coach Bryant". Both great coaches, but that wasn't the question.

Would have been a cool photo if they were both at the bar at the Grand Hotel in the 70’s

Bear's is more iconic, but seeing Landry definitely brings back memories of the Cowboys for me.

Younger people don't know it maybe, but that hat at the time (70's and early 80's for me) was as much "Dallas" as the star, the Flex defense, or the Landry Shift

Why do Bama fans wear houndstooth when Bear wore gingham hats? I always found this curious. Is houndstooth more available?

I think Bryant’s distinctive houndstooth is the difference. Both hats became part of their respective images as coaches.

Landry definitely has his legacy associated with that fedora, but many other icons also wore it and have been associated with it as well

Depending on who you ask, you might get different answers on who made that hat iconic.

But bear’s hat there’s only one answer

The Bear's hat is more obviously his, Landry's hat is a good deal classier.

Both iconic, but Landry's hat is more iconic as a hat to the world at large, Bear's is more iconic to college football fans as belonging to Bryant's look.

Coach Bryant served in the Navy in WWII. This is the second time I’ve seen your piece of shite alter try to suggest otherwise.

Both are iconic when those two coaches are wearing them. Bear’s would be more recognizable by itself, imo.

When did Bear Bryant say that?

Those two guys' college careers didn't overlap...

And they faced each other only one time during their pro careers.
