Rumors have been running wild all day as there is speculations the Noles and Tigers might be heading to the Big 12.
Now this isn’t the first time there has been rumors of these two teams leaving, while teams where leaving and joining conferences left and right last season the rumor mill started in Tallahassee and Clemson.
Many know that FSU wants out of the ACC because of its grant of rights that is very restrictive for the university. While other conferences like the SEC and Big 10 continue to get bigger and richer with their new blockbuster TV deals the ACC looks to be being left behind.
Yahoo sports reporter Ross Dellenger revealed while speaking to Big 12 reporter John Kurtz, he believes the Big 12 has had some introductory conversations with the two schools.

Yormark has the relations with Disney (ESPN, ABC, Hulu) from his time with the NBA, they gave the big 12 an incentive if the Four Corner schools jumped ship…without even talking to the Pac 12 commissioner about a media deal. I would be naive to think the same conversations aren’t being proposed at the moment for greater value. Our deal ends 2030 and aren’t decades like the ACC in 2036, allowing flexibility for renegotiations and school movement. We have a bigger payout lol. The hold up is the buyout and lawsuit for any move though, I still think the SEC is the obvious.

TV executives control all of this. It makes sense ESPN would prefer they break up the whole ACC and its deal, to send a large group of them to the BIG12 instead of seeing all of that valuable inventory move to FOX/CBS with the BIG10. I don't think the BIG10 really wants the southern schools outside of maybe UNC. They really want Notre Dame and they wanted Texas. SEC getting Texas was what blew up the PAC. I still see it more likely that Florida St makes the SEC. Clemson and Miami to BIG12 would be more realistic.

FSU and Clemson causing all this drama and blow up the ACC to end up in a conference playing BYU, Tech, Houston, Cincinnati, UCF, kansas and the like would be comedic gold.

Is the big 12 at 14 members now?

But she’s probably easier to get lucky with and win the conference game in and go to the CFP’s.

I just don’t believe this one. It doesn’t make much sense. If Fox or ESPN aren’t interested in paying the B1G or SEC more for those schools, why would they be interested in paying the Big 12 more?
While the Big 12 with Florida State and Clemson would be a much more valuable league than what would be left in the ACC, it just doesn’t seem worth it for those two to wreck the ACC for a marginal pay increase, still be stuck in a second tier conference, and risk significant legal repercussions.

Hey boomer, you think people are just sitting around here waiting to answer your questions?
There is this thing called Google search for that.

Very shortsighted and panicked move for those two if they do this. The Big 12 equally panicked when they loaded up on mid majors like UCF, Houston, Cinci, etc. Does FSU really want to demote itself to playing in the same conference as a mid major from its own state?
The only reason the B12 makes decent money today is they just came off a new round of negotiations with very strategic positioning. That won’t necessarily be the case long term. Its a conference of leftovers and mid majors with a showman commissioner.

UCF is mid now, but they do have potential to become big time. They could easily surpass the MS schools of the SEC.
Clemson and FSU to the XII would be cool, making it a very watchable conference, a lot of potential schools. Other than Ohio State/Michigan...I would rather watch this new XII than the B1G.

maybe FSU & Clem can petition ECU and Memphis outta the American to join them in the Big 12 - to get to 20 schools -

Im beginning to wonder if the SEC not adding FSU/Clemson is less to do with media strategy (already having teams in FL snd SC) and more to do with simply a lack of votes.
The SEC requires 3/4ths majority for expansion. So 5 no votes kills it. UF and USC wouldn’t block the move, but would only vote yes if there was clear consensus. So that’s 2 no votes. Then you have your smaller market schools who view more big teams as another potential L hurting bowl eligibility, and who fear getting voted out one day if the SEC becomes dominated by the interests of the big money football schools. So OM, MSU, Arkansas, Mizzou, Kentucky, and Vandy are all probably no votes.
The block of smaller schools went along with expanding from 6 mega schools to 9. But Im not sure they are willing to tip the balance of power towards 11 big money programs in the conference.

This almost seems like wishcasting. They aren't suing to go to the fricking big 12.
It's either the SEC or BIG.

This is what I think should happen..
3 leagues of 20 teams each.. yes the B1G and SEC are superior, but it's a pretty solid league imo..

Their (the Big 12) contract will be renegotiated before the ACC has run it's course. That will still leave them in a mediocre conference, but they deserve it. clemsux was using churches to funnel money to players families long before the NIL. The family members all got good jobs. It was totally within the NCAA rules. The NIL put everyone else on a level playing field.
