New SEC Schedule?

2025 is a flipped version of the 2024 schedule.
People expect 2026 to be 9 conf. games for the SEC.
BUT posts on here (& YouTube) are talking about conference changes around 2027.
So, is 2026 going to be another randomly created schedule?

No, Alabama is the only team to play a 11 game SEC schedule and win every game. Also they've started scheduling multiple good OOC games every year, which is awesome.
I just understand math and that all conference games come out to a .500 record and adding more games will just guarantee the conference as a whole has more losses, which will make the conference appear weak.
It's like drag racing. You need a good engine, and you need tires that give grip. Well, you need to kick the shite out of other conference teams for the grip. Just sitting there beating up each other is like spinning your tires, all that engine power is wasted.

They are going to have to figure something out for 2026, because for the next two seasons there are schools that were gift wrapped an extremely easy conference schedule. And then there are schools like OU who were given much tougher schedules. Something has to be done to make the difficulty of schedules more even/fair.
If OU had Texas's 24 and 25 schedule they are likely to end up in playoffs. Seriously doubt that happens with OU's current schedule. And many other SEC teams would easily make the playoffs in 24 and 25 if they had been given Texas's schedule.

Because all conference games come out to .500. Look at what happened in 2020 when everyone played an all SEC schedule. They had SEC teams so under-ranked it was pathetic, and it showed in the bowl games.
You need links between the conferences to compare them, and the only way to get those are with lots of OOC games. When an SEC team dominates an OOC opponent, it helps raise the strength of the entire conference and any teams that beat them. The better the opponent the more it carries.
It would be best if all SEC teams scheduled 2 P5 OOC games, rather than adding a 9th SEC game.
I personally don't think it's a coincidence the ACC and SEC were the conferences most often making it to the playoffs while they played 8 game conference schedules and others played 9.

That fact, and the scheduling shenanigans of only playing a conference opponent one time in 12 years, was a ... farce.

But those extra loses will be countered by extra wins.
I understand your math, but there's no way to play conference games & end up with more wins than loses.

You REALLY want to bring up the 2020 C19 season...especially when some teams DIDN'T even play every game?

I'm not going to get on my soap box, but there are so many "must play" games in the SEC that creating schedules is quite challenging.
&, in my PERSONAL opinion, the requirement that a full rotation has to be done in 4 years conflicts with the "must play" games.
Now, with realignment back in the news, ...
You'ld be interested to see You Tube videos how the NFL uses multiple computers to figure out their schedules. Also, as an FYI, did you know MLB schedules used to be created by hand?

The SEC has the top 8 teams nationally in SOS on their schedule this year. Even though the B1G plays 9 conference games, why does the SEC outdistance them in SOS with only 8?
If you pay we play. ESPN is going to have to pay up. We have a bunch of homers over here who want to give away that conference 9th game without making ESPN pay for it. It's not going to happen.
As far as our future schedule, if we stay on this format and play 8 games we need to start figuring out everyone's mandated rivals. The fewer, the better.

& the SOS also counts your non-conf. opponents, so that's also a factor.
As to rivals, every schedule thread has at least 1 LSU poster who comments about NO rivalry games. I'm sure other schools include their similar opinion.
