Both are similar where they had one great year( 04 for Tuberville and 13 for malzahn) but never won a championship. Both had lot of 8-4 7-5 records.

I preferred Tubbs. He'd lay eggs like Malzahn, but Gus was just too stubborn. And Tommy took the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry more seriously than Gus.

2004 Auburn would beat 2013 Auburn by 3+ touchdowns and leave them writhing in pain on the field.

Tubbs teams played with grit and a chip on their shoulder. Quinton Groves was a beast

Tuberville. 2008 was no where near as bad as it seemed.

Tubs teams were men’s teams. Malz teams were cute/finesse teams.

Tuberville by miles. Take out a few fluke wins Malzahn is fired 4-5 times.

Tubs

Eta- just look at their record on the road. Tubs dominated, Malzahn didn't come close. Malzahn is the reason the rivalries are so lopsided now.

Quite a few of our “ups” weren’t even that enjoyable. 2017 ended great but was frustrating for the start of the season. Then the SECCG sucked and we lost our bowl game.

2013 obviously had the best reg season finish imaginable but we got pantsed by LSU earlier in the year, so we didn’t really know we were good until about 3/4 of the way into the season.

2015, 2016, and 2018 were probably worse than the scores and record indicate. We had some really embarrassing losses those years and weird displays of football (whirlybird, anyone?).

So Gus was way worse than Tubs.

Got a lot of great memories from that era. Those Auburn teams were always tough and hungry to beat you. And it just felt like Tubs fit the culture and really got into the rivalry.

Hope Freeze brings some fire back to the rivalry...last year was certainly a great start

Tuberville benefited greatly from BAMA being on probation.

Before sanctions crippled us Franchonie beat him in cowtown 31-7, and once we got back to fairly even footing Saban beat him 36-0.

Auburn really should've beaten FSU. Had Jimbo not faked that punt before half to regain momentum Auburn probably wins.

Gus ran a system. Tubbs built a program.

If I had a team and had to choose one it would be Tubbs.
Much smarter. And ate fewer boggers. And that is important.

That's because Gus was busy paying homage to himself. If Gus is staring off into the distance, he's imagining a Batman symbol in the sky, except he replaces Batman with himself.

Gus is a narcissist piece of shite.

I won't attempt to show all the times in his career that he ran the score and stats up on weaker teams in the 4th quarter so that he would be ready to run to the stats websites on Sunday night or Monday morning and celebrate his own disingenuous arse.
