Nephew is going to War Eagle Camp and we'll all be looking at places for him to live.

Acre & The Hound will always be my recs. Draft House is underrated. If you want to try out Opelika go to Zazu's or Irish Bred Pub. I might be a little outdated.

Agree on the above. The Depot and Lucy’s are 2 more.

May I suggest Amsterdam Cafe or Big Mike’s Steakhouse and Byron’s Smokehouse for breakfast.

Hound.
I always eat at Little Italy when in town for work though because it’s a good, cheap hole in the wall.

Ate at Zazu a few months back and it’s still fire.

The Depot will always have a special place in my heart. Interviewed for an internship at a job fair at Beard-Eves, the company ended up taking me and my fiancé (now wife) and dropped a grand that night. Got the internship and job.
But yes, Acre and The Hound (wife served there) are top notch.

If you’re OK with driving just a handful of “klicks” northwest of Auburn, The Waverly Local has some mighty fine grub too.

Botanic near Tiger Town has a good restaurant, but you will probably need a reservation.

Well, yeah.
And a side of Doritos with melted pepper jack.

Thanks all.
How is the Korean place. I know wife and sil can’t survive without a dose of kimchi.

The trip was good though it felt like visiting an oven going outside for any reason!
We mostly struck out on restaurants due to unlucky timing. Missed Acre on Sunday because they aren't open on the 5:00 seating and then again on Monday as they weren't open for lunch.
We made it into the Hound and it was good. They seem to have a problem with watered drinks and wine, but our waiter made it right and threw in a free perk after I complained.
My nephew had a pedometer on his phone and racked up 20,000 steps on touring the campus.
Looking for a room for him to live was a bit nerve racking for something within walking distance of campus as everything was booked up. We eventually found a room at The Mill a couple of miles from campus that was very nice. Two bed, two bath suites with a kitchen, shared living room and a washer and drier, swimming pools, gyms other amenities. Sure beats my step-daughter's dorm at Stony Brook which is a small room with two girls per room and six sharing one bathroom that costs more too!
My SIL and my wife were impressed with the campus finding it to be huge, clean and very nicely maintained. Of course, the Delta Flight School is something to behold.
The Korean place GogiZip was very good according to my two experts.
It's only a month and a half until classes start!
Can't believe that we'll be paying $35k for tuition when I started at $100 per quarter in 1964!
We did stop at Toomer's for a lemonade. Everyone at War Eagle Camp got a Toomer's lemonade.
WDE!

I finally made it to the Irritable Bao! It's so good for a nice lunch.

The Mill is nice he will enjoy that. Probably gonna run you about $900/month.
Did he get to meet his roommate or still waiting?

Also purchase him a cheap e-bike. Parking can be a fricking nightmare on campus and he will save enough in not getting parking fines to pay for the e-bike
