Assistant coach but Brother Bill Oliver:

quote:

In 1990, Gene Stallings hired Oliver as a secondary coach at Alabama and promoted him to defensive coordinator in 1993.[1] Alabama's athletic director, Hootie Ingram promised that Oliver would succeed Stallings as head coach, but Ingram was fired in 1995 when the program faced NCAA sanctions.[2] In 1996, Oliver accepted a position as Auburn's defensive coordinator, which he held until 1998.

Nascar, Larry McRenolds - Yates to Earnhardt

quote:

After running the rest of the season with substitute drivers, McReynolds convinced team owner Robert Yates to sign Dale Jarrett to drive for him in 1995; although Jarrett finished outside of the top ten in points McReynolds did lead him to victory at Pocono.

After one more season as crew chief for the returning Irvan, who missed most of 1995 recovering from his injuries, McReynolds took over as Earnhardt's crew chief for 1997 after his former crew chief Andy Petree left to form his own racing team.

Except that’s a downgrade. Aggy to Texas is wish.com to Stanley Korshak.

My memory of when Kiffin/Orgeron bolted is kinda blurry, but werent they using their UT issued phones trying to lure UT recruits while in Southern Cal?

When Coach fFran left Bama right after the Iron Bowl to Aggie. Lots of Bama fans thought he tanked the Iron Bowl just so we would be more bitter about that than him shagging arse to College Station like 3 days later. That 2002 team was salty too. Beat a Saban coached LSU team in BR pretty bad, I think blanked them. I should remember since I was there but it was frigid that night. I heard he told Paul Bryant Jr he was leaving and his response was get on that plane, don’t come back here.

Petrino being in the Ga dome one day then calling the Hogs the next was something else. Both the Falcons and Ark did well off this transition though, at least short term.

I don't get this part, what's the "right" way to handle it?

Tell his cllose buddy Chris Del Conte to wait until they get back from Omaha and focus on his current team in the meantime. That's obvious.

David Pierce leaked the news of his demise to Kirk Bohls. Bohls just retired from the Austin-American Statesman), and used the information for his first story for the Houston Chronicle.

Bohls wrote for the Austin paper for 50 years, but he hasn't been a UT supporter since the 90's (he voted Vince Young 2nd on his Heisman ballot).

When Texas was asked to comment, they responded with the press release.

Schloss had previously turned down a contract extension by A&M. so they new he wasn't staying.

I'll give you THE comparison. in 1956 Bear Bryant had A&M undefeated and ranked #1 in country when he announced he was leaving for Bama.

Wrecked their season as they lost their final 2 games. At least Bryant got some
points for honesty; Schloss shut the F up as he dismantled the team from within.

There is zero chance you think this is accurate

Texas is one of the premier baseball programs in the country. A&M just became relevant, and that was mainly due to their coach that just left for Texas
