May 2, 1928 | A funeral is held for Mex the Dog, who served as the OU mascot from 1919-28 and wore a red sweater with a white letter 'O' on the side. Old Mex was so beloved that the university closed for his funeral. He was buried in a small casket under the existing stadium.

Old Mex was succeeded by Ruf-Tuf, a bulldog who served as mascot for three football seasons starting in the fall of 1928.

Boomer, a brindle pup more nimble and adept at mascot tricks, came along in 1929.

Scrapbook >> Oct. 4, 1947 | In head coach Bud Wilkinson's first game at Memorial Stadium, the Sooners defeated Texas A&M 26-14. OU's "Play Like a Champion" sign debuted outside the locker room, nearly 40 years before Notre Dame began a similar tradition.

Our last loss before 47 straight

Sept. 26, 1953 | NBC broadcasted the 1953 season opener between No. 6 Oklahoma and No. 1 Notre Dame in the first live nationally-televised game played at Memorial Stadium (28-21 ND win). It was also the first time the nation's No. 1 team visited Memorial Stadium.

Remember this game? After losing to Miami at home, we made that run to the title. This was for the Big 8 title.

Wish OU would put my favorite OU video out on Youtube or Soonervision. It's called The Run of 71.
Awesome season highlight film.
