I'd take that as a no.

1-0 against Auburn

Auburn QB left the game in the 2nd quarter and best RB broke his arm early on.

1-0 against Florida

Florida 2020 covid year? 4 loss Florida team that was missing tons of starters in a bowl game? (I honestly do not know how many starters Oklahoma was missing)

quote:

2-0 against Tennessee
2014-7-5 Tennessee 2015-8-4 (Not bad, really...but still)

2018 Alabama-Yeah, I got nothing. Alabama just screwed the pooch. They liked to brag (Like Georgia does now) that they have very few if any opt outs)

2012 Texas A&M-See above. A&M screwed the pooch. (I don't know about opt outs for either team)

So, you got two good wins in that time frame. Most of the teams were pretty bad...or less than average SEC teams. I get it. I mean, you schedule those games well in advance and typically those teams are pretty good. (A&M is usually pretty average, but have had some good years, too) And I don't think I would argue that Oklahoma is going to fall through the roof. But most of the teams you are talking about were (at the time played) on the same level as Kansas State in a typical year. 4 (Or more) losses. It's not like the SEC teams were at the top of their game like they typically are. (Auburn had massive injuries and Tennessee has been down for quite awhile....Tennessee is just now picking their game up) It will be interesting to see how Oklahoma matches up to Tennessee now.

Don't get me wrong...most of us are excited about Texas and Oklahoma coming to the SEC, and I think you make the strongest conferences even stronger. I am looking forward to seeing how Georgia plays against you both.

Unless we play Georgia 8 times a year we’ll be fine.

You'll be fine anyway. I just don't think you will be dominant like you were in the past. Instead of averaging 10 wins a year, it will be closer to 8 or 9. Not a monumental drop off by any means, but that could be the difference in the playoffs and not making them. But...you have an energetic, young coach, so who knows? You very well could be as dominant and return to the glories of Oklahoma teams.

A fair view. Thanks. LSU has averaged 9.5 wins since 2010 I believe. So, yeah 9 wins in the SEC should equal a playoff spot. Depends, I suppose. But you know I look over the past three years and if an Ole Miss with less talent than OU, wins 11 games in 2 of the 3 years, I don't see how people can say OU won't/can't. It will be a dog fight for sure.

You are batshit crazy:

"You are right on that. Soonerfans was decent and fun as was ShaggyBevo. LandThieves was way more fun and and allowed mostly anything. SurlyHorns and DirtBurglars are both like a retirement community vibe."

Soonerfans sucked, The LandThieves community migrated to DirtBurglars when ShaggyBevo servers were killed off. Now the only thing wrong is the migration of a few trolls from the SEC land. Unfortunately bans are rare there, as they were on LT. Don't think I plan on making an LSU board anymore money by visiting the OU board here, bad enough I come to the rant!

I'm not the Oklahoma mod!
It's another Oklahoma fan keeping you waiting, not me.

Nobody should say they can't. But, I mean, TCU went 12-1 in the BIG 12 and we all saw how that turned out in the title game.

Again. Nobody should say Oklahoma can't. But nobody should say Oklahoma will definitely, either. And how many schools had better rosters than TCU?

Let me tell you. In 2022 Oklahoma had the 9th best roster in the nation and TCU had the 32nd most talented roster. TCU finished 2nd in the nation and Oklahoma finished unranked and with a 6-7 record. Oklahoma got beaten by 6 teams with worse rosters that year. (Texas was the only team with a better roster that beat you, and they beat you 49-0. Their roster? #6, 3 spots ahead of yours.)

Do you still want to cling to the notion that more talent will make you a shoe-in for wins?

Oklahoma will do well, imo, but I also think it might take a couple of years. That said Missouri and Texas A&M did well early, but have struggled since. Maybe Oklahoma can come in and see a lot of success. We'll see.
