When is the SEC gonna pony up and support ice hockey?

I've been following the growth of ice hockey in non-traditional markets and can't help but be impressed by the success stories in Florida, Dallas, and Nashville.
The Florida Panthers, Dallas Stars, and Nashville Predators have built strong fan bases and competitive teams despite being in the heart of the South, traditionally dominated by college football and basketball.
This got me thinking: When will the Southeastern Conference (SEC) start supporting ice hockey? With the right investment and interest, it seems like a natural progression for the conference, given the growing popularity of the sport in these areas.

UF and SCar just won national titles.

Not happening. Non-revenue sports will be getting cut moving forward, not added.

Athens just wasted, I mean invested tens of millions on a hockey rink downtown and has attracted a minor league team named the Rock Lobsters.

Never or at least not until Title 9 is no more. Most SEC schools don’t have men’s soccer and that would be miles ahead in line of hockey.

Um, that would be a NEVER, Bob!

When will the South regularly have snowy, icy winters?

Of course that’s true, but I think southerners would be natural hockey fans if they watched it regularly.
Hockey is basically soccer if a few guys got drunk and tried to make it better.
“Let’s shrink the playing area, put it on ice, give them sticks, and make fighting not a big deal”

Okay, when you put it that way

Between that girl and the tits of the Edmonton oilers lady I'd support college hockey.

I hope never ... but I gotta admit during my time down here at our place in Jupiter, the Panther fans' excitement for the Stanley Cup Final Monday night is palatable.
They've got hockey fever down here.

Impossible to make happen realistically. Just too expensive both facility and scholarship wise to get 16 D1 sanctioned SEC hockey programs started. Plus it'd be a near impossible nightmare logistically to continuously have to convert basketball floors back and forth into ice arenas like they are the Staples Center.
But I have imagined a reality where SEC hockey was a thing selling out arenas. It'd be fun as frick.

Would be great but will never happen with Title 9. Pretty sure you have to add two women’s sports for every new men’s program.
Pretty cool Arizona State built an epic ice hockey arena out of nowhere. I wonder how their revenue and attendance is.

I said this before in the last thread about hockey, the SEC needs to decide to sponsor lacrosse. On-campus infrastructure already exists for it (soccer or football field) and it runs in the opposite season of those sports.
The upper-middle class pussies from the mid Atlantic would get destroyed by D'tavous and Lamonte who are looking for any scholarship $ to offset their preferred walk-on status and Kayden who is still mad about that called strike 3 in that travel ball tournament when he was in 7th grade.
Pick up women's lax or field hockey, and there would be no Title 9 impact.

I’ve wanted LSU to discontinue the swim program and pick up lacrosse for awhile. The current LSU coach maximizes what he can do with our awful natatorium, but we’ll never be an elite swim program.
