I'm sure I am going to get blasted here, but maybe some of you coaches can help me see the light. Watching his film, knowing he is playing 1A ball, all of his big plays are just speed. He is not touched on them. What am I not seeing? I don't even see him having to make a guy miss. He fast and I guess good vision but is all that?

I personally have said he’s the most overrated in the state this cycle. Freeze has a type at Running back and Alvin fits that mold. About 5’10” 180 coming out of high school with speed.

Granted I personally want some backs that can at least slow down a linebacker in pass pro. Doesn’t matter their size. As good of a pass blocker as Caddy was his backs were very poor pass blockers

Perhaps the situation being no one in the cycle and a body needed after Battie went down.

Fast and straight is a kickoff returner at least.

I watched him play last season and had no idea who he was going into the game. He was one of the most impressive high school players I’ve ever seen in person. Absolutely destroyed the team I was pulling for. He ran people over, juked people out of their shoes and out ran everyone. Of course like you said it is small high school ball, but I was still very impressed.

Yea he looks pretty good/complete to me.

Sets up blocks well and gears down.
Finds hole, breaks through it with burst.
Breaks tackles and strong stiff arm.
Looks bulky/strong and like his frame could hold a little more weight if we wanted to put 10-15 on him.

Sometimes diamonds in the rough are found at small schools.

Kerryon was from a small school, as other good players we’ve had. Only time will tell..

Alvin Henderson is the smaller RB that we will take, but Ousmane Kromah is the bigger RB that we should take.
Kromah's measures a little bigger than Tank Bigsby and carries it well.

Kerryon was at a Madison Academy state champs at 3 or 4a. Yes that level of competition is poor, but 1a is honestly worse than most middle school ball.

I think the small school narrative has some merit. But I think the athleticism and speed are there regardless.

Freeze likes these smaller backs though and Alvin has been a priority. I like him in a 2 back class this year

Yea, the small school stuff really has more impact on how quickly they will be able to transition to college ball. Some things can translate, but if the guy tests out athletically and physically, then ultimately that is what matter most.

School size has less impact when it comes to skill position players, Qb not included

Incorrect. My 1A regularly beat 2A and in baseball we were beating 6A teams. Put some respeck on it.

Very Likely. We did. Only 1A school that was better was American Christian. Yes they were 1A then while having Brad and Chris Smelley. Del Howell which got drafted by the yankees. And several others that went to play college ball.

American Christian is now 5A

I could see your argument if he hasn’t been to several camps and competed against the best of the best.

thats not playing 6a baseball. 6a was the highest classification back in my day so, no, 6a didnt play 1a.

Lowest competition we would play was 5a, but those match ups were few and far between

I dont know where you played, but my school would probably beat yours too.

Good job avoiding the embarrassment.

We set the state record for wins. Highly doubt your team could avoid the ten run rule
