And will announce Vitello as the new Longhorn Head Coach. Have an uncle with ties to big Austin upper crest of big donors. He will be paid 3mil per year and a big NIL bucket to draw from. Stay tuned!

The melt from Vol fans will be glorious.

The highest paid coach in the SEC makes around $1.7 million, and you think Texas is going to reset the market for coaches salaries in a sport in which they lose money?

Weak troll. Even Texas fans have given up on this.

I don't think it. I was told this was what had to be paid to land Vitello in Austin. Vitello is Texas' #1 and they're willing to pay what it takes to land Vitello. Pierce already knows he's out the door.

Why would they want him? Haven’t they gone long enough without a National Championship?

This would make UTa UTk’s big bro

They absolutely do. In the scheme of things with NIL, $3M a year for a baseball coach is nothing nowadays.
Vitello to Texas may or may not be a rumor... but Texas not willing or not able to pay $3M for Vitello is laughable. If Vitello wanted to go it would be done before the end of the day.
Still a lot of people on this board oblivious to truly deep pockets. They just have no idea.

Not to mention we get a melt from Texas fans in four years when they lose to Evansville

No one is saying Texas doesn't have the money to do it, but it doesn't make sense financially for them to do it in a sport in which they are already losing money. OP, who is a Tennessee fan, is more likely trolling.

They are already further down their list of candidates.

Texas always talks a big game when they have a coaching search and never get their #1.

Im all for a solid hook but this is too shiny.

Making sense went out the window a few years ago. No longer part of the equation at all at some schools.
It probably is a troll. My point is the same, Texas will spend the money regardless of who it is they ultimately go after. They may very will pay $3M year. Doens't matter to them as baseball is part of the overall sports "brand" they covet.
They are not setting any limits based on whether the baseball program is making money or losing money. Has very little... if anything... to do with the salary they will be willing to pay. Re-establishment of the baseball brand from 15+ years ago is worth $100M to them.

V standing in the dugout looked just like DVH on the
LAst at bat.
Mingione would’ve put on a safety squeeze.
Make the defense perform.
Hawgs could use V. They could use Mingione more.

I'm not even sure Augie made $1 million / year in 2002, so if this were true, then less than 2 dozen years later Texas would be hiring a guy with 1 career win in Omaha (so far) for over three times the amount?
Crazy times

Same rumors we had to deal with at SC in 2012. Tanner parlayed taking the offer to go to Texas into the AD's gig.
We should have let him go.
Never try to keep someone that wants more power and position in order to stay.
