First time a #1 overall seed lost to a #4 seed. Congrats on making history.
4 seeds were 0-30 before today.

You're saying 0-30 in games played at the super regional level? Or 0-30 in series?
I'm surprised the #1 overall seed has met a 4-seed that many times in super regionals.
Maybe you mean 0-30 in postseason games.

Is it normal for the message board champions to lose so often?

That’s correct. In the postseason, #1 overall seeds were 30-0 in games against 4 seeds

That math doesn't math.
This season there were 32 games between 1s and 4s, and a whole lot more during the entire regional formatting. If 0-30 was an accurate stat it would have to be when 1s and 4s have matched since the start of the super regional format.

The supers started in '99. The math still doesn't work.
ETA:
There is only one way that stat is accurate and it's if a 4 made it to a super.

With the randomness of baseball scores, I'm more shocked that it's the first time than it actually happening

Well, we know the #1 overall seed faced a #4 seed in their very first game every year. So, that's 26 right there, 1999-2024. So, 4 other times they've faced, either later in the Regional, or a Super.
The math ain't hard.

Yeah bc a 1 and a 4 could never match up 2x in a regional

Where are all the Tenner posters?

There’s only one #1 overall seed each year. There’s only one guaranteed game between the #1 overall seed and a 4 each year. This is the 25th NCAAT under the current format (no tournament in 2020).
