If it weren't for the 1996 Olympics, Buckhead wouldn't have a MARTA station.

It was the first time Texas had to ration power. If we did it daily like California, we would have been well-practiced. My house had three planned outages of 45 minutes each and it went flawlessly. Others weren’t so lucky.

I always wanted them to do a year in ATL when the East is the home team and a year in NOLA when the West is the home team.
Most common participants:
Bama/LSU/AU
UF/UGA/UT
Atlanta is considerably closer than NOLA for all 6 schools.

I forgot to mention that ATT stadium is one of the few major venues that you can just drive up to and park without having to worry about reserving a spot and it accommodates a college town tailgating atmosphere.
Fans can pretty much do the same at the MB. They tailgate right next door at the mammoth Georgia World Congress Center parking lot and go inside the GWCC to enjoy the festivities that are ongoing congruent with the sporting event.
The College Football Hall of Fame is within a short walking distance from Mercedes-Benz, too.
Georgia World Congress Center is at far left with Georgia Dome inbetween MB & the GWCC
Mercedes-Benz Stadium on left, Georgia Dome in center, GWCC on far right, Centennial Olympic Park in lower right corner
Tailgating Time!

We don't ration on a daily basis -- only when extreme Santa Ana winds come through raising the temps here in Southern California and/or during certain times of the fire season (which is getting laboriously long these days ).

The biggest issue with moving the SECCG from Atlanta was always the fact that as soon as Atlanta was available, the ACC would grab it and have their championship game there every year going forward.
With the ACC seeming to be about to fold, it's very possible that the SEC would be free to move the CCG around to various venues. In the past they never wanted to aid any other conference in recruiting the south east (which Atlanta is the capital of). But as long as the Big 10 isn't having their CCG in Atlanta, I'm not sure the SEC cares enough about the other conferences to worry about them.

Yeah let’s move the SECCG to nearly the farthest west outpost on the edge the conference footprint instead of keeping it within manageable driving distance of 80 percent of the schools and their fans. Because Texas, or something.
quote:
We will be rotating the SECCG around to the extreme corners of the conference for the sake of "inclusion":
El Paso, TX - Far West Venue
Miami, FL - Far South Venue
Kansas City, MO - Far North Venue
Charleston, SC - Far East Venue
It will be on TV...so it doesn't matter that nobody really wants to go to these places to actually watch a game.
With all of the downvotes, I'm guessing that the sarcasm in my post wasn't evident enough. The SECCG should stay in Atlanta...I'm willing to die on that hill.

Now that divisions are gone, it really doesn't matter where it is but Atlanta is terrible with traffic so wouldn't mind it being somewhere else.

Wrong. Also, isn’t it embarrassing that the B12 plays their CG in a far superior and more iconic venue that is also quite a bit larger?
No domes are iconic. They all suck.

I'm sure you weren't yet in your diapers when the '96 Summer Olympics were in Atlanta (perhaps you're still in them).
The MARTA Lenox Square Station in Buckhead opened in 1984, 12 years BEFORE the Olympics.

It will move to Nashville before DFW.
