First Zion Williamson and now Jimmy Butler.
The NBA will now be without two of its marquee stars for the playoffs.
I wonder how Adam Silver is feeling right now.

Imagine playing 82 games - half of a calendar year - and thinking “we need an extra tourney for these last spots in the playoffs”
I do not follow nba and know it is stupid

Is it just me, or is he seemingly injured a lot?
I don't follow the NBA as much as college, but the one time I went to see Herb play for the Pelicans, Zion was of course "hurt."
Since he's been in the league, what would you say is the percentage of availability for that dude?

He is, and people were calling it before he got drafted. Body type, fitness, weight, playing style etc. are all contributing.
To be fair he did play in 70 games this year though... he's no Greg Oden

The NBA already has over 50% of the league make the playoffs without the stupid play-in tournament. 16 out of 30 teams. Adam Silver has always been a cuck though obsessed with pleasing the players, so it doesn't surprise why he'd have such a stupid idea.

The play-in game is the playoffs. The rest is just semantics. All Zion did was go up for a simple point-blank jump shot and it was over, Check out this guy's hamstring history. He missed from January to the end of last season with the same injury. And Butler got hurt faking a layup and once the guy got up in the air fell on his leg. You can't stop injuries, period.

You could make some argument about a meaningless SEC football championship game, injured players might miss the playoffs

October to June, 82 regular season games, and 16 of 30 teams make the playoffs? No wonder no one cares.

The whole point was to give more teams a "way in" and curb tanking for higher draft picks.
Oh and more games = more money.

I'm struggling to see how an injury to a guy who played at Duke, a guy who played at Marquette, and a professional league's playoff structure have anything to do with the SEC.

the point of expanding the cfb playoffs was to make injuries more likely to happen on the best team so it is less likely that the actually best team wins the tournament. its is essentially trying to water down the dominant conference a bit. hell, it kinda happened this year...UGA got banged up in the back half of the regular season and Michigan caught an SEC team with a retarded offense that couldn't even manage the qb-center exchange.

While technically true, I'm thinking we let this one slide and acknowledge that Stidham actually made a post that could have been made by a normal, functioning human being.
It's the small victories.

They're creating ways to make competitive games since the regular season is plagued with lazy energy. There is a mid season tournament now too

The irony is that both of those guys are known to be lazy. The body breaks down during the long and brutal season that the NBA season is.
These guys then want to push their bodies once the playoffs start to 100% and the fatigue is creating injuries
Lol
Then you have Lebron who turns 40 this year and he wins his playoff game so the Lakers could make the real playoffs

The NBA lets everyone in the playoffs and that killed the regular season ratings, which is why we have the play in. Getting a 1 seed apparently doesn’t mean shite anymore. Alopecia Silver is fighting to get more eyeballs on the screen but the game is soft and watered down.

The in season tournament and play in tournament were dumb ideas.

Meant to post this on the more sports board.

Not true. Opening day for the NBA is a snooze fest. No one cares about the NBA until after Christmas.
The ratings have been down because teams have been resting their stars to keep them healthy for the post season. This began around the early 2000s. As I stated earlier, NBA is lazy basketball until the playoffs start.
The entire attitude by the players is terrible during the season

Yeah he's a bit heavy for his height. Needs to slim down by about 15-20 lbs. Not much but at his age, carrying this extra weight makes him injury prone. Helluva player though imo.
