Basically, if a school is flush with NIL, a coach doesn’t have to leave for a “better job” like an Oats to Kentucky.
Normally, pre-NIL, Oats would’ve crawled to Kentucky.

Apparently being flown around on a private jet freaked them out a bit. Not used to that kind of treatmenr.
What an idiotic take.
Bro if I get to fly on PJs, I'm sure the family of a national championship basketball coach does too.
This isn't the 1960s.

Kentucky sports media look like clowns too. Those were his super secret sources, and they missed early and often.

I already knew that KY fans are arrogant, delusional, entitled, impatient, unrealistic, and very, extremely, dreadfully impressed with themselves.
So in a sense, I did not learn anything.
I just enjoyed the anger and frustration when it turned out that Blue Blood royalty got turned down by coaches they truly believed they were entitled to merely select.
CANNOT wait to see total meltdown first time Pope loses a game KY fans expect him to win.

Based on what I read most of my constituents post, they said on here the same stuff we were being told in the media, on the radio, and on other message boards. None of us are insiders.
Wait, you mean we just passed along what was coming from local media sources? Surely no base has done that during a coaching search on the rant before.
In all seriousness, your post sums it up pretty well. It’s funny that we’re apparently held to some weird standard as fans here.
What I learned is there some weird arse, highly obsessed folks on this board. I even got some “anonymous” Twitter messages making threats. A whole lot folks need to touch grass.

Most people hold Kentucky fans to the same standard as a single-celled bacteria because that’s basically all youre worth as individuals

Didn't texas tech beat byu in the big 12 tournament by like 40 points? And then get beat in the 1st or 2nd round of the tourney?

Most of them wanted Oats and went batshit crazy when he said no.... Their fabricated personal attacks on he and his family were way over the line... so frick em

I wonder if they have gotten to the bottom of his divorce, custody fight and alimony struggle?

There’s just a lot more destination jobs than there used to be. So much money out there with tv deals that coaches don’t need to uproot their lives for a couple extra million when they’re already being paid super highly. Throw in the transfer portal and NIL and it’s easier to compete at power conference schools

And yet that is exactly what caused this whole chain reaction, coaches uprooting their lives and taking other jobs for a little more money.

USC coach left for SMU after having a disappointing year with their talent, same with Muss and all that happened this year, and then obviously Cal and the heat he was feeling

I confirmed that the college sports I grew up loving are gone and very different.
As mentioned here, players are basically going where the money is. Period. Tradition only matters in that most of the schools with NIL have a 30 year head start paying players….but the field is leveling quickly. Arkansas could never have hired Calipari, but given the NIL commitments Tyson was willing to make…presto,
I won’t even know the names of players on my favorite team anymore…by the time I do, they’ll be in the portal or turning pro.
There is no amateur game anymore, other than High School, and the best of those “recruit” also.

Get used to it with Cal. It’s not goi g to be the University of Arkansas.,.it’s going to be the University of Cal. The game has changed. 5 stars are not winning in March.

Kentucky's not a top job anymore because now everybody knows about the Raftards.
Back when Pitino was hired he had no idea what he was getting into until Joe B. warned him about it. Now everybody knows.

I mentioned this yesterday in one of the threads. He will suck the life out of any of their other resources.
I feel sorry for pittboss. He looked miserable shaking hands, probably knew what was going to happen.

Now, just a general comment.
I do hope that Cal can get his reputation back for retiring. He's taken a hit the last few years, but was good to our state in many ways. He brought a lot of attention to poorer areas, and I hope he does similar for Arkansas.
I suspect he will focus more intensely now than they did the last decade at UK. He's got a reputation to gain back. We'll see if he can do it. Time will tell.
