Texas announcing their pending move to the SEC is what really helped with recruiting. Not dissing Sark’s recruiting abilities, but the conference move is the biggest factor.

That definitely helped with some kids.. but recruiting has never really been the problem at Texas..

Composite Rank
2014 - 17 (transition to Strong)
2015 - 10
2016 - 7
2017 - 17 (transition to Herman)
2018 - 3
2019 - 3
2020 - 9
2021 - 15 (transition to Sark)
2022 - 5
2023 - 3
2024 - 6

So Top 10 every year except the transition years.. but yes, it has helped some..

No I agree that recruiting really hasn’t been a problem in Austin. It was the lack of player development.

However, Mack Brown got a bit lazy at the end, yet also benefitted from his recruits getting Bobby Burton’s special treatment, which only masked the problem. The recruits weren’t actually as great as Rivals said they were.
