No Mark?
Brazile could be a piece. He doesn’t need to be the feature but bigs are hard to come by in the portal

I don’t have Mark listed because, just as an observer, I didn’t feel like his game meshed well with the rest. I don’t think Battle and Mark can play on the same team.
My overthinking arse believes Muss put his eggs in the Mark basket for most of the season and that’s when Battle was getting no minutes or very limited minutes. Muss finally had enough and inserted Battle back in and he absolutely went off the last month or so of the season. Again, this is my thought on what was going down…
From December 9th OU game until Miss State 2/17 game…Battle had 9 games with less than 20 minutes played, 8 games with 15 minutes or less played, 6 games with 11 minutes or less played, and 5 games with 9 minutes or less played. Also note, he was a DNP against aTm at home…From Miss State game until today, Battle logged at least 34 minutes every game.
I also think Brazile is a half assed/half effort guy that doesn’t benefit the team much in the big picture. The team, I think, is better off without him. He sucks at defense and if he isn’t hitting or taking shots, he isn’t worth much IMO.

Battle doesn't play defense remotely well enough.
He's our worst defender at the guard position.
Sure he can score, but it was painful watching him on defense all year. Lack of focus.

I agree. I just wonder if he was coasting thinking he had the NBA made. Maybe realizing he has work to do would light a fire under him again. He was a valuable piece the last few games.
It's just going to be very hard for us to build frontcourt depth from the portal. Worst case Brazile comes back and it's a repeat of this year... he could still be a ~10 minute per game guy, maybe more in certain matchups

Everyone sucked at defense. We gave up 80 points per game this season.

Yeah I mean there's definitely an argument that we need a true PG in one of those spots

I will go ahead and say... I don't expect Shelley to ever contribute significantly here. I hope y'all bump the hell out of this if I'm wrong, I just don't see it.

Tough call, both are about the same talent level but Shelley is a bigger freak athlete as a 6'9" SF on both ends.

I think the official reason was “academics”, which is funny nowadays.
