Does any SEC team take a chance on hiring Bucky McMillan from Samford?

He's currently 40 years old and has lived his whole life in Birmingham.
Went to the state's final four as a player with Mountain Brook High School.
Played college basketball at Birmingham Southern.
Coached Mountain Brook to 3 7A state championships and 7 final fours.
Recruited Trendon Watford to leave his lower middle class high school and join the whitest and most wealthy public school in the state.
He's in his 4th year at Samford and they're going to their first NCAA tournament in 24 years.
Samford has won at least 21 games the last 3 seasons and finished tied in first place last year in the Southern Conference regular season.

I don't see why not. Didn't LSU get Brady from Samford? That worked out pretty good. A good coach is a good coach. They just coach in front of more people when they move up.

Guy has an impressive resume so far, but this would still feel like a big reach for an SEC team. Think you would want to see him go to a conference like the AAC, Sun Belt, MWC, etc. and succeed there first.

I do think it's funny how Samford made it to the 1999 and 2000 NCAA tournament just two years after Brady left.

Amazing how getting out of the Mountain Brook bubble and going to Homewood will change a man's style.

If Chris Jans left for another open job next week we’d have Bucky as our #1 target. There were some people who wanted him to State 2 years ago
