Hate to see this & hoping it isn’t serious. DeMarcco had worked his tail off to earn the starting job last season.

He's in an air cast, it's serious, unfortunately.
Hopeful for a full recovery!

Will Reichard kicks a game winning 38 yard FG with 3 seconds on the clock to win it 24-23 for the Vikings.
Very cool.
Very cool.

Will Anderson article
Interesting bits:
Interesting bits:
quote:
Then came 2022, the most difficult year of his life. The undisputed No. 1 defensive prospect in the country took a hard left turn his final year at Alabama. With a new outside linebackers coach, he was now playing the “4i” position. That is, he lined up on the offensive tackle’s inside shoulder. This meant less rampaging upfield, less sacks, more media pressure. Anderson worried his draft stock was falling.
quote:
“My faith was very low — questioning God. Depressed. All those things,” Anderson says. “Now that I look back on it now, I wish I could do so many things differently.
“My last year at Alabama, I was just lost. I was lost.”
quote:
His best friends on the team, including Harris, were off to the NFL. He doesn’t want to discuss his 1-on-1 clashing with new position coach, Coleman Hutzler, only assuring: “We didn’t see eye to eye on a lot of things.” Nor did his parents understand what was wrong. His relationship with Mom and Dad started to deteriorate. The weight of expectations — both short and long term — felt suffocating.
Anderson finished with 10 sacks, Alabama went 11-2 and the NFL remained (very) high on him. Yet, he still felt trapped inside his own mind.
Alone his bedroom, he cried every day.
quote:
“I wasn’t standing firm on who I was,” Anderson says. “I wasn’t standing firm on the foundation that my parents had already built for me. I was letting that stuff feed into me. All that negativity. And it was just wearing me down, wearing me down, wearing me down. I had to really suck it up and ‘Let’s just get through the season. Let’s just do what you need to do and get out of there.’”

So glad those days are over.

Imagine having Will Anderson as a coach and deciding to get cute instead of just telling him to go tear the QB's head off. Just coaching malpractice.

The fact that Saban was able to drag the bottom tier staffs we had from 2021-2023 to two playoff appearances and two SEC championships is looking more and more impressive in hindsight. If only Pruitt wasn't an idiot redneck who made cash payments in goddamn happy meal bags.

It makes sense now. We could all tell Anderson Was not the same player his last year. I thought he was preserving himself but now we know the truth. What a pity. Why did he not go to Saban, I wonder?

Yeah it's a what the frick kind of thing. Like we have one of our most legendary players of all time and dude is miserable and wants to leave. Insane.

Khyree Jackson drafted at 108 to the Vikings. Does Bama claim him?
I believe we do

I think it's becoming more and more evident that by 2021 it was getting harder and harder for Saban to hire real good assistants because many coaches were beginning to question his age and longevity. He was also notoriously difficult to work with as we all know due to his exacting standards. I think fewer and fewer coaches are wanting to deal with that kind of personality in today's game.

He was tiring of the whole hiring process. He even said , he did not mind his assistants leaving, and was all for it. He just hated that those same assistants were going after the coaches he wanted to replace them with, and taking some of his too.
