Yes they can if they want to stay on the good side of the NCAA. You can't give a kid a flight out to Knoxville and have him stay a couple of days and fly him back and not be culpable. This isn't court.

If he went on a recruiting visit while he was in Knoxville I think you guys may get some violations here. We will see.

I agree, it sounds ridiculously stupid. Which is right up the NCAA's alley.

So the defense is “we were flying him out here to pay him, not to play football here.”

This whole thing is silliness

I mean, yes, that’s the whole NIL collective loophole.

Also spyre is not UT, so they aren’t flying him out to play football. To fulfill his NIL contract, it would be impossible to do without actually living in Knoxville.

The “we” is Spyre acting as a broker for Nicos name, image, likeness. Not the university securing a pay for play.

And his NIL deals (both local and nationally) are well within the national expectations so there is no argument that he was incentivized to go to Tennessee, he was going to get a similar deal anywhere he went. He was a student when his 2 larger NIL deals were announced so nothing there to indicate an issue. He’s living up to his agreements so it’s not a no show deal. Everything was done in accordance with NCAA guidelines and state/national law at the time.

The NCAA has nothing to stand on here.

Oddly enough, we're not accused of anything. Spyre, otoh, is accused of using a private plane.

Here's the problem. Even if the only reason he was flown out was for recruiting, there's no possible way to prove that with any collective that actually does anything. Run one commercial with the kid (already happened) and you've shown proof it was for NIL stuff.

You Tennessee fans are full of shite.

James Clawson of Sprye Sports is a UT booster directly tied to the UT NIL.

James Clawson

So is Hunter Baddour.

You don’t understand what NIL is.

Sure you can. UT booster flying him out and on the trip he is at UT for a visit. It doesn’t matter if he did NIL stuff too. The flight was provided for by a booster and there was a recruiting visit.

I do. You apparently don’t. They have Tennessee on pay for play.

Booster

You think the people paying Missouri kids for NIL aren’t Missouri fans?

They aren’t flying them into town on private jets for recruiting visits to the school.

Boosters can’t do that. It doesn’t matter what else goes on during the trip.

NIL collectives can absolutely fly their clients.

Not on private jets when there is a recruiting trip involved when they are boosters. It doesn’t matter what else happened on the trip, it is still a recruiting visit.
