Nice. Seems like we'll have a dedicated safeties coach which makes sense in this 3 safety base defense. Guessing the last hire will be for the backers.

Nah, he coached the Safeties and Sauce was a CB. Perry Eliano was the CB coach on that staff.

Still, Cincinnati had a helluva secondary in 2021.

Sure did. Our game plan when we played them was to RTDB. BY only had 181 yards passing, but we ran for 301 yards.
Ahhh, those were the days!

If the fan base from the school is pissed you took a coach, he's a good coach. He was the best recruiter on that staff, and is an excellent coach.

Also starting to understand more about what approach we're going to take on defense. Fickell is a big proponent of the 3-3-5 stack that also is running 3 safeties.
From what I've read about Washington's defense this year, they ran a lot of quarters and cover-3 but they blitz like hell. This sorta tracks with what Fickell would do but with less blitzing.

I'm loving this, alot of Midwest coaches not some BBQ good old boys.

Love the hire.
We are moving toward the future while these other teams keep recycling the same ole coaches. We were too until the well ran dry.
Exciting times.

While it is a bit of a risk in some regards, this young staff is very encouraging. I really like the idea of the younger lesser-known guys. Especially when you see their resumes.

And if Saban is advising on the recruiting side...
