This stuff is getting embarrassing.

This isn't 1997 or 1983 anymore. Guys, especially elite guys, don't commit to schools because they grew up loving them anymore for the most part. And, to be frank, that isn't how we recruited. We recruited guys based on coming to Alabama, being disciplined and developed by the best and going to the NFL. Guess what? Those guys that recruited them and told them that, the guys who were going to be doing the developing and disciplining, they don't work here anymore. We didn't recruit based on Alabama being an awesome place and a family. We recruited based on a business model. And it was the right way to do it! But when the entire management team leaves and the product is in flux.........you got nothing to sell! When you throw in an open opportunity to go somewhere else without penalty AND the probability of financial gain from that move..........there was never any other way this was going to end.

The next 3 weeks are gonna suck. Then we can see where we stand, who is left and move forward.

100%. The only cure is spring ball and seeing what the staff puts on the field in the fall. This was always going to be the case. Alabama fans have such a short memory.

I can't really blame anyone who is disillusioned with all of this bullshite. If they want to vent then go for it.

Right! Kids are dodging bombs in Ukraine and Gaza on the daily and were fretting over some guys going to the highest bidder. The sun will come up tomorrow.

Yeah. Let’s at least see what product DeBoer can put on the field before we quit. Lol.

Also for every guy that portals out there is a corresponding move elsewhere. There are still roster number limitations at all schools. Alabama will get the brunt of negative portal movement this go around but I bet it evens out over a couple of cycles. Just have to keep grinding and recruiting. Same as always.

Disillusioned with what? The stuff everyone else has been dealing with?

This week sucks. The future is very much up in the air. If everybody just said frick it I'm out when you weren't guaranteed 9-10 win seasons and NFL players on your roster then there would be about 3 fanbases in college football.

Our staff is shaping up to be outstanding and we were in contention for a NC once again this year. It will be a lot easier to fill in the holes with the current position of the program. Saban left the program with the ability to keep rolling.

I wonder who was around when Alabama went 4-7 in 97’ , or 3-8 in 2000 or 4-9 in 2003?
I think sitting through those seasons has brought a greater appreciation for me at least, Of when things don’t go as planned. Coach DeBoer has been on the job less than a week. Let him do his job. We’ll all see what the end results are in 8 months or so.

The problem is... What is spring ball going to tell us? I imagine that Bama will pick up some players in the next portal session but that v will be after spring ball. So right now Bama can lose but not gain players ( unless UW or.maybe AZ?) The players transferring out will get to go through spring ball at their new school...so it's a double wammy. I would be less ticked if the portal were open for everyone till May

This is the new age of college football and we're just he first real power to go through it. In the old days you lost a great coach and he left a great roster and infrastructure for the next guy - see Saban to Miles at LSU.

Those days are gone unless you have an immediate succession plan that comes from inside the building (Moore at Michigan) or is an identical replica of what you had (Kirby). Kids are going to leave. You are going to start over from scratch. We will not be the last program to deal with this. It sucks.

If some of the starters from UW come in they know his system and will not miss a beat.

Spring ball is going to be 7 on 7 due to the lack of available players.

I mean it may not tell us anything. I dunno. But it'll be football and the coaches will be coaching and we'll see how the QB situation develops and we'll be doing traditional college football things, not sitting around waiting for Hayes Fawcett to post a new tweet about a guy leaving.

Not to mention no sanctions or pending investigations against the program. We knew the day was coming and just sit back and lets see what happens.

I was a junior at UA in '97. I'm old enough to remember the end of the Bear's time and all the lumps until Saban. NIL makes this a new animal but the core issues outside of that remains. Alabama fans are their own, and their team's, worst enemy.

I think it’s different with Saban. Kids came here to play for the goat. He’s leaves and they have doubts about the new staff. Turnover is going to happen going forward but this is an unprecedented situation.

Wanting to quit on your fandom because players clearly in Tuscaloosa because of the head coach not the school is just living in a fantasy land. There's no 17 year run with 9 SEC titles and 6 national titles with just the kids who bleed crimson. You think a QB is coming from Hawaii or a DB from New Jersey because they just want to lay it all on the line so the University of Alabama can win championships? Get real.
