Jeremy Pruitt as DC, why not?

Is the punishment that he has to sit out the first year wherever he’s hired?
Fine, do it. We’ve lost so many players and Jalen Milroe is our QB, we aren’t winning the championship anyway. Grind out year 1 then come strong to year 2 with Grubb and Pruitt as the coordinators.
That helps solve the recruiting issue too

Aside from the fact that he would basically be DC in name only for a year?

Look at the roster that’s left right now. We aren’t winning the championship in Year 1. Get someone decent to call plays for 1 year then let’s roll

I’m on board for an analyst for a year. Then let him loose

Who, in your opinion, have we lost that would prevent us from competing for a championship?

I'm curious as to where his show cause fits in all this?

Ok, we still have a ton of talented players on our roster. Players that contributed, and were impactful.

The QB that led our team to an overtime away from making the NC game where we would have been favored? Ok.
DeBoer is inheriting a much more talented roster than he had at Washington. He made it to a NC with Washington talent. You don't think that he can do anything with our current roster?

Would it?
I am much more optimistic about the upcoming season than a lot of you are.

The roster that's left right now is 100% good enough to win a title. Did you peep Michigan's roster this past year?
I'm feeling good based on who hasn't jumped in yet but it could get much worse. That's my fear.

Pruitt will also be around for the long haul. No one will ever hire him as a head coach again. We can have the best DC 8n the country if we sacrifice 1 season. Sign me up

It’s six seasons buddy, not one

No one wants Pruitt back more than me, but Pruitt needs to work on getting that show cause reduced or removed.
Until that happens he is nuclear waste and can’t be touched.

Our center had one of the best cut fastballs in the game. Virtually nobody could handle his stuff. You don’t just lose someone like that and not feel it.

The show-cause penalty means that if an NCAA member school chooses to hire Pruitt in an athletic-related position prior to July 13, 2029, he would be suspended from all team activities for the entirety of his first season on the job.
It’s not six years. That’s how long there is a penalty for hiring him. Now, he’s not going to be hired so this is all pointless talk.

Alabama isn't going to be a coach short for a year. As much as I would love for Pruitt to come back it isn't going to happen. Being an analyst for a year will accomplish nothing. If he is hired as an on field coach he has to sit the first year as an on field coach period. His best recourse is to sue the NCAA.

That move from Bama DC to 10RC HC cost both Bama and JP in the long run.
Time to forget JP at Bama.

You have to be given approval to get to that stage of one year, otherwise you’re just sanctioning yourself for however long they’re sitting on your payroll.
It’s a two-pronged punishment. Hence “additionally”.
Schools don’t test show causes, ever, for good reason. Pruitt could be an analyst and our OL Coach could commit a Level 2 violation and we would get whacked with an absolute sledgehammer compared to the normal punishment. And we would be under that scenario until 2029

Former head coach Jeremy Pruitt received the brunt of the punishment by the NCAA as he was given a six-year show-cause penalty. [b]Additionally, should Pruitt be hired for the coming fall of 2023 he faces a full season suspension.[b]
It’s a two-pronged punishment. Hence “additionally”.
quote:
Contrary to popular belief, an NCAA member school is allowed to hire a coach who is under an ongoing show-cause order. However, the show-cause restrictions make it prohibitively difficult for a coach with a show-cause order to get another collegiate job.
As mentioned above, any school that hires a coach with an outstanding show-cause order can be penalized merely for hiring them. Additionally, that school could be severely punished if such a coach commits additional violations while the show-cause order is still in effect.[2]
Consequently, most schools will not even consider hiring a coach with a show-cause penalty in effect, meaning that it usually has the effect of blackballing that coach from the collegiate ranks for at least the duration of the penalty. Many coaches who receive a show-cause penalty never coach again even after the penalty expires, since a large number of athletic directors and university presidents/chancellors are unwilling to hire someone with a history of major violations due to the potentially disastrous effects the hiring could have on the program.[3]
