Bama AD has known about this retirement a long time

Seems to be a lot of people in BR that knew about this. Are the rumors of Mrs Terrys health true?

Under that theory, Ole Miss had a better year than Alabama. Better to win a meaningless bowl game than lose in the playoffs.

So Saban’s been planning for Lanning? QB? Arch Manning

Got Sayin

I'm sayin' he was sayin' not about Sayin, just about the rhymes: "planning, Lanning, Manning". I'm surprised he left out Dakota Fanning and Carol Channing.

It’s astounding the amount of idiots in this thread. Pate said none of this. He didn’t list a single name and said he would be shocked if a decision wasn’t made in the next 3-4 days

LSU on your mind huh

Hard not to around here. You guys are really hard to ignore. Like if the Chinese population started walking in a single file straight line the line would never end because of reproduction, so are the LSU alters here.

Bama fans are now facing the terrible truth for them - there will never be another Saban and thus there is no homerun hire. They will get a good coach but Bama’s domination of college football is over.

Why would Saban care who follows him. He's gone and if anything he would like to the see program dip a little, for his reputation.

He learned well. He would probably make a better AD as well.

I hope Bama goes a different direction.

Lanning is like Kirby and Saban in his work ethic, particularly around recruiting.

While still only in his second season as a head coach, he's 22-5 and managed to turn Bo Nix from a punchline into a Heisman finalist. Of his 5 losses as a head coach, 3 were to teams that made the national championship game.

He's the coach I want Bama to hire the least.

Pate did not say this. He did confirm that Saban was retiring but what he actually said was that bama was "rounding third & heading home in its hiring of their next head coach." Possibly in the next 3-4 days. But he mentioned no names.
