Only, and only, because being sole DC at Bama is better and much more challenging than being co-DC at Uga with Will Musschamp as the other co-DC. It would mean much more recognition for Schumann and bring him into HC consideration sooner. But I'm not saying it is likely. It probably would have been more likely with Lanning as our next HC.

More money.
And to run a defense for his alma mater for a coach that is not a defensive coach. Good or bad, Kirby is going to get a lot of credit for the UGA defense. Maybe he wants to implement his system and have more control.
