Does DeBoer have any ties to Saban?

All of this anxiety,100% of it, is solely due to the fact that we haven’t had to hire anyone or go through this in 17 years. Relax, smarter people than all of us are working on it, thankfully. This was not directed to the post I responded to it just happened to be the one before mine lol

The more I sit back and think the more Nick stepping down now just feels so weird. This goes against everything he's ever spoken about publicly regarding retirement.

Not really...he has always said that he would coach until he couldn't achieve the standards that he has for himself and his team.

Just looking at this past year's team, can anyone say it was a well-coached team? Hell no. We won with grit and a lot of luck, but we were not the well-coached product that we saw from 2008-2020.

In addition, I really think his former players, and fans, being critical of the team in 2022, whether valid or not, was probably the final straw.

What?

You don't think he can pay a 9 mil buyout? We pay our coach over ten mil per year and don't blink an eye. 9 mil is nothing in today's world. This isn't 1985.

Ya 9m is literally nothing, they can make that figure up after 1 game this season.

Can someone in Tuscaloosa organize a “hire Lane” rally in front of the Quad or the stadium? Get the students involved. It’s time for fans to make our voices heard before the blue hairs destroy what Saban built.

I just in no way believe that a team full of guys who came to Alabama to be coached by Nick Saban would not immediately flock to the portal if they were told Dabo is now there coach. It will have to be someone with some type of serious business approach.

There's nothing in his career to indicate that he would be a sure thing the way that many of you are claiming. Some of you don't watch any games not involving Alabama and it's really obvious.

Keep in mind, according to KJR in Seattle, DeBoer had a meeting with Washington's AD. No news has come from that. All these other programs are quick to tweet about how they're keeping their man.

Byrnes going to bring back fax machine girl with the new HC contract.

It's going to distract us from a potential bad hire.

This. At minimum, assuming we hired a guy Wednesday night (which is a bold assumption), it's going to take at least 5 days before things start coming out. This could very well last over a week, maybe 2. It took 6 weeks to land Saban, 5 weeks for LSU to get Brian Kelly, 4 for Auburn to get Freeze.

He's a perfect fit, especially the fact that he's succeeding the greatest to ever do it. His ego is the one thing he has that says "F" it, the stage isn't too big for me.

We don't know anything, besides its not Lanning. It's been 48 hours. Multi million dollar contracts take a little time. Especially if they are negotiating things like assistant salary budget.

I get it that things seem like they are out of control and there's no info. But that's probably a good thing.

Yeah I get it...it's the waiting game that is a killer. I remember those two weeks at the end of December 2007 and it was like torture

That decline had more to do with him not being able to get the assistant coaches and coordinators that he wanted to hire because of his age. (almost his exact words in his interview) Said his age was making it impossible to get coaches and was starting to hurt on the recruiting trail. Saban is still Saban but his age was hanging over the program. The man never faded. The people around him did.

It explains the 5 years of golding and the Rees & Steele hires. Then we lost Bo Davis in the last second to LSU

Kalen DeBoer has a daughter that plays softball for UW.

She can transfer to Bama, too.
