If you want to do MMA/UFC stuff, especially takedowns and submissions, you're better off with Judo or Gracie Jiu Jitsu.

But honestly, UFC desperately needs an infusion of strikers because watching someone get hugged into submission gets effing boring past the first takedown move.

As a former wrestler I can say this is true. If you wrestled for 12 years like me and try to compete without being able to really practice and learn submission or counters, you will beat the hell out of a guy only to get caught in a arm bar or such and loose.

Yeah but wrestling is typically a much easier route for the majority of kids to go through since it’s funded by high schools. After high school they then either wrestle in college or get into other martial arts.
