I also think people “assume” Bama should have been left out because:
- lost by 10 at home
- barely beat 6-6 South Florida
- Struggled against 1-7 conference record Arkansas
- needed a 4th & 31 “luck” play to beat mediocre Auburn

Having said that, I believe Bama is by far the most improved team in CFB.

But “muh SEC is down this year and should be watching these shite conferences compete for a title from the sideline.”

A lot of conferences other than the SEC owe what success they DO have in the playoffs to just one team:

ACC - 6-6 in playoffs - 6 wins by Clemson
B1G - 3-7 in playoffs - 3 wins by Ohio State
Big 12 and Pac 12 each have 1 win in the playoffs

SEC:
16-5 in the playoffs
9 wins by Alabama
5 wins by Georgia
2 wins by LSU

Every SEC team that has made the playoffs have won a national title

Every SEC team that has made the playoffs has multiple wins (obviously)

Every SEC team that has made the playoffs has a winning record

The SEC is the only conference with a winning record in the playoffs.

If all the non-SEC teams that have won games in the playoffs combined their records together, they still would not have as many wins as the SEC does (combined record of 11-10 for Clemson, Ohio State, Oregon, and TCU) - five less than Alabama, Georgia, and LSU have combined (even if you left Georgia off they'd still only match the number of wins [11] and would have taken 21 games to reach that total as opposed to 15 combined games between Alabama and LSU).

How does Texas jump from 7 to 3 based on beating a trash Ok St team? There's no logic.
Well see, there isn't much logic in any of this. It's about money and ratings, and nothing else. FSU never stood a chance and the rest was window dressing.

Interesting take considering Texas was ranked 3rd in the final CFP and AP polls... Not 4th.

Bama had a reason to jump from 8 to 4. Just beat no. 1 UGA.

Well, by your logic, shouldn't Texas jump even HIGHER since they beat a bama team that beat uga??

Texas has one decent win all year long. I mean, seriously, the answer may be to just go to the B12 and play nobodies. It worked well for the steers.

If the Big 10 didn't head up a pretty stupid "alliance," they'd have both Ohio State and Penn State in an expanded playoff.

Because they beat Bama at Bama.

We all know had UGA won the SEC, FSU would have unquestionably been #4 and in the Playoff. But the committee wanted an SEC team in so in order to justify moving Bama up, they had to also move up Texas.

That’s why the committee and the ESPN talking heads are such frauds. They’ll act like Texas is clearly better than FSU but had a different game not involving either team gone the opposite way, they would be saying something different.

Committees suck.

The committee head is related to one of the ESPN execs. Not a coincidence.

They would have been wrong, but I 100% agree that they would have done exactly that.
