For those saying they're "boycotting the playoff" no you're not.

CFB's TV ratings king is in it. You'll watch.

Actually the numbers show otherwise. Competitive games NOT involving the SEC generally bring in the highest viewership with Alabama’s appearances coming in on the lackluster side most of the time.

Highest Viewership for National Title Gamrs Since start of BCS:

2005- Texas vs USC (35.63)
2014- Ohio St vs Oregon (34.15)
2009- Alabama vs Texas (30.78)
2002- Ohio St vs Miami (29.10)
2006- Florida vs Ohio St (28.80)
2017- Alabama vs Georgia (28.44)
2010- Auburn vs Oregon (27.32)
2000- Oklahoma vs Florida St (27.20)
2008- Florida vs Oklahoma (26.77)
2012- Alabama vs Notre Dame (26.40)
2015- Alabama vs Clemson (26.18)
1998- Tennessee vs Florida St (26.10)
2013- Florida St vs Auburn (26.06)
2019- LSU vs Clemson (25.59)
2018- Clemson vs Alabama (25.28)
2016- Clemson vs Alabama (25.27)

2011- Alabama vs LSU (24.21)
2003- LSU vs Oklahoma (23.94)
2007- LSU vs Ohio St (23.07)
2021- Georgia vs Alabama (22.56)
2001- Miami vs Nebraska (21.56)
2004- USC vs Oklahoma (21.41)
2020- Alabama vs Ohio St (18.65)
2022- Georgia vs TCU (17.22)

Games involving Alabama averaged 4% below games NOT involving Alabama.

Alabama is a ratings juggernaut in the regular season. But the National Title brings in about 15 million viewers who rarely if ever watch a regular season game…. I think many of these viewers are located outside the South and the game generally benefits when other regions are included. Bama is not really a draw on this big of a stage.
