Negative. We need to keep it as close to the Gulf as possible, especially while Tennessee's clout is at an ebb. Northern teams suck.
I've changed my mind. I say we Alternate Atlanta and New Orleans.

Actually, the most awesome thing to do would be to move it to Havana, bringing back the old Bacardi Bowl from days of yore. (DISCLOSURE: I whipped the University of Havana's arse over in Cuba back in 1907.)
As soon as Obama brings hope and change to the island, we can start making plans. You wouldn't even need a dome. How awesome would that be?

The only teams this benefit are LSU and Arky.

Fayetteville is so far away from every other SEC team it might as well be in Kansas.

Which negates a reason for moving it...

What's the quality of Veterans Stadium?

Around the quality of the Liberty bowl...poor. If they put money into it, It could probably look pretty nice, and it holds 60,000 people. Miss. St. might start playing in it again. It is about the same size as the Vaught.
And apparently Mississippi gave it to Jackson State this year.

FYI, there's always the Cajun Dome in Lafayette. (I propose it be renovated to host the SECCG in football, with funding to be provided by Kentucky taxpayers.)

Football is an outside game. Should never be played inside and if the weather is bad then that's just a part of the game; including the championship game. I hate domes!

I believe that it is permissable to play a championship game in a dome.
Posted on 12/7/08 at 3:49 pm to inelishaitrust
Yeah I would prefer we play it outside no need to keep giving UF the turf advantage.
Posted on 12/7/08 at 3:51 pm to inelishaitrust
yea domes for title games are the best.

Wouldn't Memphis be way to close to Ole Miss?

does it really matter how close it is to ole miss?
45 something years without a title and never even been to the title game. the only team in the west to never make it. they were oh so close once.

Ole Miss is only an hour away from Memphis. So if we did ever get to the C game. Which we are about due, It would be too close. There would also be tons of bandwagon Ole Miss fans in Memphis.

Of all viable cities (Atlanta, Nashville, New Orleans, Tampa, Jacksonville, Miami), Atlanta is the most central (trust me; I've done all the math).
With Atlanta, Georgia is the only school that is particularly close, and LSU (3-1 in SECCG's) and Arkansas (never the favored team) are the only ones who are particularly far.
Also, the team closer to Atlanta is now 9-8 in SECCG's. Geography hasn't played that big a role in the game.
Stay in Atlanta, SECCG.
