Coincidentally, that was the last time a team from the SEC played in the Rose Bowl until Georgia on January 1, 2018. Alabama defeated Southern Cal that day by a score of 34-14 to finish off a perfect 10-0 season. However, they finished #2 in the AP that year behind Army.

I've got my grandfather's ticket and program signed by the team from that game. Was out of the Navy on leave for a few weeks, couldn't get back to Ala in that time and went to the game with his time off. Pretty cool stuff.

We’ve played in the stadium (Texas as well as home game against UCLA), but not in the bowl game.

Technically that wasn’t the Rose Bowl. Rose Bowl 2009 was Ohio State vs Oregon. Bama vs Texas was the BCS National Championship game.

Bama did play in the Rose Bowl beating Notre Dame on 1/1/21.

Alabama was not allowed to be invited to the Rose Bowl for many years because the university would not accept black students or black players.

That’s why the Rose Bowl became a Pac-10 vs. Big Ten game because those were the only two major football conferences which allowed black players to be on their roster.

Bama beat Texas in the BCS National Championship Game at the Rose Bowl after the 09 season.

Bama beat Notre Dame in the Rose Bowl played in Dallas because of COVID after the 2020 season.
