If OU and Texas were both one-loss conference champions, yes, absolutely.
So the rest of the schedule does matter in how you evaluate the quality of each team. Interesting.
But let me guess, you only care about # of wins and losses and not the actual strength of those wins and losses? But you also won’t argue for James Madison to be in the playoffs at 11-1 because well, in that case, you want to look at the strength of their wins and losses.

But would you be so confident that Texas would win in a rematch?
Yes. You guys suck. Needed two miracles to beat Auburn, who got run out of their own stadium by New Mexico something or other.

We have a better SOS than Alabama.

Except when its a head-to-head loss at home. It would suck for Bama but it could only blame itself for not taking care of business.

This doesn't matter. It's the same argument Bama fans tried to make last year with TCU.
Results on the field matter, and Texas beat Bama head to head, and in this scenario both would have the same record and be conference champions. That head to head will count more than everything with the committee, because the reality is they are beholden to the perception of making decisions based on what teams did on the field.
And how can they defend saying Bama is better than Texas (in their selecting the best teams mantra), when Texas beat them ON THE ROAD on the field?
They can't. That's why in that scenario Texas is in.

If they suck, as you say, then they should be blown out by Georgia and it won't matter.

What’s a worse loss? Losing to Texas or losing to OU?

Losing to Texas, because Texas lost to OU.

Mandel has Alabama jumping Texas in all possible scenarios if Alabama wins. Maybe you should email him.

rivalry game on a neutral field on the last play vs. being mercy knee'd in your own stadium.
i call it a push.

In that case put OU over Texas. They settled it on the field didn’t they?
2 loss OU? Stupid fricking liberal thinking like a stupid fricking liberal again I see.

There is no honest debate as to which resume would be better. If Bama clearly has the better resume (they would) you don’t go to the “head to head tiebreaker.”
I don't disagree, but what if "did they play head to head?" is the first question when looking at said resume?
The problem CFB has with rankings systems is that most teams do not play each other and there are so many conferences that comparing is difficult. We have a unique case when comparing these two resumes where they HAVE played each other, and people want to throw that out because of resumes put together where Bama beat more teams that we all know AREN'T among the best teams in the country (though are still good teams) than Texas did.
I guess all that said to ultimately agree with you on the surface that you put Bama higher But I do think completely disregarding the head to head is a mistake as well

That guy sucks balls.
Basically it's simple.....
Pac 12 and B1G IDMAS
Root for Louisville and Alabama unless you are a Georgia or FSU fan

Scenario 11: Alabama, Washington, Louisville and Texas win.
1. Michigan (13-0)
2. Washington (13-0)
3. Alabama (12-1)
4. Georgia (12-1)

5. Texas (12-1)
Georgia stays in if Florida State loses.
This might be the dumbest scenario. Ignoring the stupidity of Bama being #3 and UT #5, putting in UGA is even dumber. UT would have a tougher SOS than UGA, have a conference championship that UGA doesn't, and beat a common opponent by double digits on the road with UGA losing to them at a neutral site.

The eye test is something that has been specifically mentioned by the committee.
We already know that it factors in.

Good, because Alabama should've beat Auburn by 3 TDs. And Arkansas by more than 3 at home.

His rationale when comparing Alabama to Texas is that Alabama will jump to 3 and thus head to head won't be a consideration.
It is a consideration but his logic is Alabama defeating UGA would trump the head to head

Which to me means unless FSU puts on a show against Louisville, they aren't in even with a win unless Texas loses.

That is what hurts Texas. The eye test and the wins and losses that they have had in conference play..
