Whatever Roberts schemed had DJ James standing right next to Bond in position to stop the completion.
Any of you who think Milroe wouldn't have just as easily ran around 4 guys instead of 2 are delirious.
We lost because a guy who will be on an NFL roster next year couldn't stop a hail mary that happened right in front of him.

It wasn't a hail Mary and one of the advantages having them in 4th and 31 is nobody should be on am island like that. It's such a massive fail it's still unbelievable

I would take running around 4 and maybe throwing on the run/off platform instead of standing completely still in the pocket for 8 seconds surveying the field.

Yeah my problem with rushing two was they still got a 1 on 1.
Rush two that’s fine but they shouldn’t ever get a 1 on 1. And I haven’t had the stomach to be able to watch a replay so still don’t know how that happened.
You have 8 people in the end zone. He’s got to throw it 30 yards. So you have time to adjust to the ball.
Also shouldn’t have had a spy.

A 1v1 is impossible not to have in the situation though. Even if we dropped 9 against 5 WR’s that leaves 1 guy in a 1v1 situation. We would have to drop 10 to make that impossible.

That’s just not true.

I'm going to agree with Josh Pate, that Auburn coaches just decided to run the snake over a few times instead of cutting the head off. The snake being Alabama in the late 3rd/4th quarters, and it fricked us in the end.

quote:I'll just mark you down in the list of low IQ football fans on this board. Rushing Four would have affected the pocket. 2 did nothing. Absolutely nothing. Milroe just stood back there, waited until he got a favorable matchup and threw a dime. If there would have been 4 or 5 man rush, Milroe wouldnt have had the time to for his WR to break open. he just wouldnt. Sorry you dont follow football enough to understand this simple fact

eta: or to put it in a better perspective, Dee Ford crushed Aaron Murray on 4th down and long at almost the exact same position in on the field. UGA didnt win the game because we brought more than two. If we only had a two man blitz, Aaron Murray would have picked us apart and won the game.

2013 TAM and 2013 UGA disagree with you

Milroe and Murray are not in the same universe in terms of mobility, and Milroe is well known to throw deep balls very well.
Both of these are facts that wouldn’t have changed the play if we had 2-3 more guys rushing. If you think so, you haven’t watch the turds play much this year.
DBs screwed the pooch when it mattered, bottom line.

Not really. The line of scrimmage was the 31. He as atleast 7 yards deep behind that and the pass was to the back of the endzone, 10 yards.
Thats almost a 50 yard pass in the air. Help should arrive unless they cleared out one side of the endzone in which someone should have went that way to help
It was a clusterfrick of epic proportions. There is a reason that before that pass, college football was 0-90 in his history for 4th and more than 30 yards to go
Because its not hard to defend

We had one sack in the game. Not sure how many hurries we had, but it wasn't many. Not sure where people get the idea that two more guys rushing Milroe would somehow have been impactful in any meaningful way?

Our D Line played its best on that final 2 drives. They had the momentum and we squandered it.

Stolen from the rant. I will say this is a 45ish yard throw, not accounting for side to side. He has a very accurate deep ball though. He can be precise from those levels.

Well he certainly never had 7-8 seconds to sit in the pocket and survey the field without having to worry about any pressure whatsoever. I'm not going to go full Corch like I know everything but some of you guys are displaying a stunning lack of understanding of football.

You said all that to come to the same conclusion I did.
Who cares about technicalities

Technicalities are the life blood of our society, bro. LOL.

How about put a defensive end over the guard and tackle on their right, put another head up on the right guard.
Then bring the gunner from punt team on a blitz from the 2 rusher side.
At least we might move QB off of his spot.
These guys can throw if the have all day. 7 on 7 for months at a time in high school.
Milroy can throw a great deep ball.

We had 8 guys guarding their 5. I'm no math whiz or football genius like everyone on here seems to be, but with the middle of the field out of the equation along with the QB draw, this doesn't seem like a bad idea. In fact, if our guy isn't interfered with, this is an incomplete pass.

Bottom line, Ron Roberts called the worst defensive playcall in Iron Bowl histroy on 4th and goal from the 31
