I always saw Strider as a closer. He had success as a starter, but he doesn't get stronger as the game goes on like Randy Johnson or Curt Schilling. He is a 5 inning pitcher. Pitchers want to be starters because of the potential payday. I get it.
I didn't know he had the brace procedure. And while Smoltzie came back from TJ, he only had his arm opened once. The best thing for Stider going forward is to shut him down for the rest of the season and move him to the bullpen. It's easier on the body and mind to throw 1 inning 3 nights in a row than it is to try and throw 6 innings every 5th day. He could be the best closer in the game. He also could come on and give you a 2-3 inning save in October if needed.
The issue then becomes where do the Braves get pitching? This may not be as bad an issue as I once thought. ERA is up around the league and has been trending up. Teams are just scoring more and that is good for TV. So, perhaps having a loaded offense is the way to go. And this offense is LOADED. Ozuna is having the complete opposite 1st month as he did last season. Acuña is well... MVP is going to MVP. Ozzie being out of the lineup didn't slow us down a bit vs Houston. Guillerme is definitely not a long term solution, but he doesn't have to be. Riley and Olson are going to be themselves and if they can get 25 HRs and 80 RBIs from Kelenic/Duval then they have everything they need from an offensive stand point.
The Phillies and Dodgers are still our only threats in the post season in the NL. Philly does it with those 2 stud starters and L.A. can beat you in numerous ways.
Philly is the bigger threat though imho. Philly is built for October because of Nola and Wheeler. The Dodgers don't have that, nor do the Braves. I know he's been black balled but it may be time to give Trevor Bauer's agent a call. Also, call the White Sox and see what it would take to get Crochet. They may want a king's ransom, but if the plan is to put Strider in the pen, it might be worth it to mortgage the farm for Crochet or someone similar in order to win now. Can't be thinking of what this team will look like in 10 years. I mean... what are the odds they'll even be able to keep Acuña and Ozzie and Fried anyway? So, may as well win NOW.

Travis D is on fire

Travis is such a smart baseball player... he's got a pitch he's looking for (and he's good at guessing that pitch as a catcher) and if you throw that pitch in the zone on that first pitch he's gonna come out of his cleats.
It's a beautiful thing to watch. He's guessing right a lot, and he's not missing anything right now.
Ozuna is so locked in it doesn't matter what they throw, and I think Ozuna only plan is hit baseball hard AF.

5-1 vs Houston and Texas is about as good as it gets. I know the Astros are scuffling, but the AL West looks wide open right now.
Only getting 1 in the 8th last night was a huge let down, especially since Olson and Ozuna both came up with a chance to drive a run in from 3rd with less than 2 outs. But it happens.
d'Arnaud is playing about as well as ever. Hopefully we can get the offensive production from the catcher needed from LF because it seems as though that's going to be a problem.

5 Hrs in last 7 ABs after that Hr. Insane. Throw in a couple walks and hbp, and his on base percentage in this stretch is even more crazy.

Elder with the best start of the season fresh from AAA.

Fried looking good, but he always looks good vs the Marlins.
Need to get Riley and Olson going at the plate, but they both can field their positions as well as anyone.

Definitely need Fried to anchor the rotation. Reminded me of Glavine tonight- ironic he was in the broadcast booth tonight.
I think that was Frieds 4th or 5th complete game - Glavine had over 50 complete games. Maddux had 110 complete games, and Cy Young holds the record with 750 complete games.

Ozuna is just stupid good right now. Another 2 RBI tonight. So far...

Bases loaded, winning run on third, nobody out, and don’t even try a squeeze play. Especially with a back up catcher hitting that isn’t a big leaguer. Come on, Snit

Fun extra inning win against the team that had the most wins in baseball.
What a series, with 2 games including free baseball! Good series win for sure!

Should've swept the best record in baseball.

The current round-robin schedule blows. I don't like it. Who gives a frick about Seattle and the White Sox?
I like playing the Mets & the Phillies. I know their players and I have legitimate, Good Ole Fashioned hate in my heart for those organizations. I hate losing, but losing/winning vs. them is far worse/better than losing/winning vs. Seattle.
Baseball was fricking perfect for over 100 years until some idiot thought it would be a great idea for interleague play (which I also hate). Idgaf about playing the Indians or White Sox or Tigers. I want to play the Phillies and the Mets. Why even have divisions? Why have leagues? The idea was to have contrasting styles of play. The pitcher having to bat changes strategy enormously. Now, we have just one league- The American League. I don't like American League baseball. It's not how it was intended. What's better than a go-ahead, 2-out RBI knock by a pitcher? It probably has happened less frequently than a no-hitter, and now there'll probably never be another. The wrong League won.
Dear Diary, I know. frick off.

Dammit Iglesias.

Amazing that it’s been 30 years since the Braves tossed a no hitter.

I blame Snit. He pitched Iglesias with a 4 run lead yesterday to preserve the no hitter instead of pitching Chavez. It didn’t work.
That left us with Minter closing who gave up a walk off 2R HR last time he tried to save a game. Literally same results. Definition of insanity, good job Snit.

Acuna is my favorite player in baseball but he needs to get his shite together. Embarrassing. 3 pickoffs in like the last 7 innings. Wake TF up.
